BRIT Yapper on SPEED today!!

Seriously? You don't like the guy because he's got a British accent?
Guess you never watched Nascar in the good ole days when Jackie Stewart was on ESPN.

Believe it or not. Not everyone wants a hillbilly cartoon character calling the play by play.

I thought he was better than that self centered DW. I'm sick of that guy. I must admit I was getting confused by his and Larry's accents. ;)

+1

Speed is trying to cross-pollinate with their Formula 1 programming.

The first thing I abouht yesterday was that SPEED figured that havimg an announcer with a British accent was somehow more appropriate to a road course or that he may be more experienced at analysing this type of racing.
Thanks "DJ" for perpetuating the "Ugly American" stereotype.

I don't recall Jackie Stewart ever calling a race for NASCAR. I always remember him from the ABC Indy 500 telecasts. Maybe you're thinking of David Hobbs? Anyways, there both great, imo.

@ Steve007:

Guess I should've done some research before I spoke. Looks like Jackie Stewart did cover some NASCAR races in the past. Must have been before my time or I just plain missed them.

From Wiki:

Stewart covered NASCAR races and the Indianapolis 500 on American television during the 1970s and early 1980s, and has also worked on Australian TV coverage. As a commentator, he was known for his insightful analysis, Scottish accent, and rapid delivery, once causing Jim McKay to remark that Stewart spoke almost as fast as he drove.

I loved hearing Jackie say:

It's a GRRREAT day forrr a motorrrace!

He worked on ABC's Wide World of Sports program. Aye, I rrrememberrr it well.
