I thought he only opened his mouth leading up to one of his events. Guess not. Anyhow I'm sure most on here will agree with everything that he says. Since his Bristrol reconstruction debacle he is now only speaking after gauging his ideas on the results of his fan council. Here are some of his thoughts from yesterday.

Speedway Motorsports Chairman Bruton Smith Wants End to Start-and-Park

Bruton Smith, chairman of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. told media attending the NASCAR Sprint Media Tour hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway that he would like to see an end to start-and-park racing, a term that refers to race teams that run only a few laps of a race in order to collect a portion of the purse, but pull off the track before causing too much wear and tear on their equipment, thereby saving on the expense of running a full race.

“Start-and-park should not be a part of what we do,” he said. “I think it’s derogatory toward our sport. I’m going to try my best – and I hope you’ll join me – to see if NASCAR can do something about this. It certainly isn’t adding anything to our sport, and it certainly takes away.”

He then asked media in the room to use their influence to put an end to the practice.

Smith’s other appeal was to encourage NASCAR to reduce the top speeds of the race cars, which he argued would make the racing safer but also create more excitement for the fans because the drivers will make moves with more confidence.

from here.

Slower cars sounds good to me, and if nascar keeps total purse money the same, get rid of S&P's too.

Racing, because all the other sports only require one ball. Until you get to NASCAR, then slow down because you apparently don't need balls anymore at that point.o_O

I do agree with the S&P thing though

One thing ya gotta give him: Bruton is always good for a quote. He never met an open microphone he didn't like.

If you lower the speeds, the start and parks are more likely to be competitive. I'd feel differently about them if they were taking starting positions away from teams that actually planned to complete the race. They're not; the only teams going home after qualifying are other S&Ps. Where does Bruton plan to get enough cars to fill a starting field, or does he suggest reducing the field size?

Slower cars my ass, as DP says put their nads on the dash like they used to and race.

They used to race with tire grip, tires that wore, spring adjustments, tire strategy, etc, etc. You know, many of the things that made for exciting late race passing.

Gonads Fender, its all about the Gonads, turn the drivers loose and let'm go. :D
