Someone once said we're in show business. Well, if we're in show business, let's deliver that show. Right now we're not delivering it. Other sports have mandatory timeouts and TV timeouts. All that stuff creates things in those sports. We need to be creative in this sport.

Not a bad idea. If there were mandatory competition cautions, it gives the networks a chance to guarantee they'd get local commercial breaks and, maybe, they could run side-by-side coverage.

Terrible idea. Let's not change the sport just to appease TV. The other sports have those built in, just by the way they are played. Those "TV time outs" he's talking about in other sports? They're just tacked onto a stoppage in play that's already there.

So, in a football TV time out, the two teams get a coupld extra minutes of break time. If one team has a 14 point lead, that 14 point lead isn't suddenly wiped out. TV time out in racing?

The majority of thefans are watching on TV. They need to change the sport to appease television. Look at the stands, nobody's going to the races.

No, no they don't. Racing needs to be run as is, not changed around. The networks are the ones that need to be creative in how they cover the sport, not vice versa. And maybe the tracks are the ones that need to be creative on attracting fans to the track. And making mandatory timeouts for those fans to sit hrough is NOT the way to do it.

Real fans would go no matter what because real fans stick by there team win lose or draw, same as in nascar stick by your driver win or lose.

I don't see NASCAR fans sticking to their driver and buying tickets.

And I'd be more inclined to buy a $35 NASCAR ticket than a $650 NFL ticket.

The only thing that should keep a fan from going to any sport would be price, not because your driver or team isn't doing well, prices I can understand as prices for tickets are just way too much, but don't blame it on the team being bad or your driver sucking for why you won't fork that over.

This is the same Bruton Smith who thought Texas was better for NASCAR then North Wilkesboro? If Briton wants to be a sanctioning body I say we give him his tracks back and wish him luck.

Split each race into 2 so we get to see 2 finishes with an intermission. Drivers keep their wins on their record, but only points for 1 race.

Maybe Bruton could release shiney, silver, helium filled balloons every ten laps at his tracks to keep people entertained - you know, for those who need it ;)

Nascar needs just a few improvements.

1 .First 100 miles. Run counter clockwise.
2. Next 100 miles run clockwise,
3. Next 100 Figure 8, just need to asphalt up an X in the infield.
4. Next 100 clockwise.
5. Last 100 traditional counter clockwise, because we respect the traditional racing style without any gimmickytries

Bruton Smith is a sociopathic narcissistic a**hole. Has to be in the news even if he just makes sh!t up to be there.

Do we get a flyover for both? If so, I'm all in. ;) I kinda like the idea of splitting it into two, the beginning and end, just like it is now.

Are you open for modifications to your list of improvements? If so, can you maybe adjust it so that we have at least one segment where the driver draws a clockwise or counter clockwise card and they run according to the card drawn?

I think my idea was about near perfect.
But I would insert another point, after the figure 8 segment while teams were sledge hammerings Fenders back into place.

During that intermissions the drivers wives and girlfriends would engage in a Roller Derbys contest. When points are scored against one of the teams, each player removes a garment, until she is down to the roller scates.
That would drive the attendance back up.

Not interested in what Bruton says until he rips up one of his cloned dog legs, and replaces it with a cup short track.
Ditto when he quits whining about wanting another date for Vegas. If he wants one, let him move one of the THREE he has at Charlotte.

You forgot the segment when cars in the even-numbered positions run clockwise while the odd-numbered positions run CCW. You also forgot having them start from 5 miles out 30 minutes before driver intros and try to get to the track through the inbound traffic.

But Bruton's ideas are just as valid as yours...

Yes but I know what I am full of, and Bruton doesn't, his kind is the dangerous ones.

if you want concocted sporting events, go watch the WWF or whatever it's called now. the concept isn't racing and would change how every team and driver raced. if you think the first 200 laps of texas was boring, just change the rules to create concocted competition and watch as fans show up two and a half hours after a race starts.

I was thinking the same thing . It would eliminate a lot of racing strategy like setting up a car for long or short runs or tuning your engine for fuel mileage at some tracks . It would be more like the first two sections of the stupid all star race ...useless.

Well said, and I was only serious about having the wives/gfs doing the Roller Derby event.
