That was a bad wreck. The way he skated over the wall was not good at all. Hope he gets better soon.
On the other hand. Kenny is the man, I think he wants one more shot at Dixon anyway.

Update: May 20
"We got good news in many ways this morning," said Kenny. "The doctors at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center (New Brunswick, N.J.) have determined that surgery is definitely not necessary for Brandon. Brandon will be fitted with a brace that will immobilize the neck and upper back and will begin the road to recovery. At the present time he is still in a great amount of pain and pain management is a major focus. He will continue to be in a great amount of pain for the next couple of weeks we expect. Whenever he is able to walk with the brace and manage the pain, he will be moved.

"We will monitor his progress, but doctors want the injury to totally heal before he gets back into the racecar. That healing time is really tough to pin down, however we anticipate that it will take several months. We do want to be clear that the very second Brandon is cleared medically, he will jump back into the car."

Brandon Bernstein continues to improve. Father Kenny Bernstein reports that Brandon was able to take a short walk around his hospital room today in the brace he will be wearing for the next two months that was designed to support his head and neck and immobilize his upper back. All IVs have been removed.

“Brandon has made great strides since Sunday,” reported Kenny. “However, we are still waiting for him to become more comfortable and more mobile before we move him. Right now we are taking everything on a day-by-day basis.

“We certainly want to thank the fans, media, NHRA, and sponsors for all the wonderful emails, flowers, cards, gift baskets….the outpouring from the racing fraternity is truly humbling. We are most grateful.

“We would ask that all the well-wishers refrain from sending anything else to the hospital until we’re able to move him. The hospital is inundated at this time.

“The hospital staff has been excellent and we are confident that Brandon is receiving the best care possible.”

hmmm...what a bad break. I hope he doesn't try to get back in the seat too soon.

That would be the typical racer though, As soon as he can walk he will race. Get well Brandon.

You're right about that. Just hope the medical community can keep things in perspective.
