Burton races following the Golden Rule

If it would have been kyle behind Burton then Jeff would have been in the fence

The best question is who wouldn't have moved him out of the way? Probably more would have than wouldn't. But to name one individual is pretty lame. I can name a good ten to twenty right off the bat.

Perhaps not all of those guys who'd put another guy on the fence are doing it purposely.

Some of them probably don't have to the skill to race someone hard and clean as they'd never practiced it - only complained when it's done to them.

I've never known Burton to be anything other than a stand up guy who backs his words up on the track. Even during his pretty lean years at Roush when alot of driver's frustration could've shown a nastier side of them.

I agree with Burton when he says putting someone in the wall to win a race isn't racing.

There is a fine line between bumping someone to get around them and putting them into the wall. While there are some drivers who would certainly put another car into the wall intentionally, most of them wouldn't. But that doesn't mean that when they bump and run, it won't happen.

The year, 1999. The saying, "I didn't try to turn him around, I just wanted to rattle his cage". The result, an Earnhardt win. Did he purposely spin Terry or did he indeed just try to bump him out of the way? :)

During the Busch race two weeks prior, Kyle Busch had the opportunity to bump Burton for the win, and did not do so.
Maybe that is what Burton means when he says, "do unto others.......".

As to Stewart and JGordon, from my lofty perch here in beautiful Wake Forest, North Carolina, either of them would follow the same rule as followed by Jeff Burton.

Beat up on Kyle Busch if any feel the need, but keep one thing in mind.

Kyle Busch is the real deal.
Kyle Busch is gaining on becoming a better driver than either Jeff Gordon or Tony Stewart and that is not easy for this old man to say about "Shrub".
The young man is GOOD !!! Damn good !!!!
Look for him to win multiple NASCAR championships, the first within the next few years.

Fans need not like him but should recognize and appreciate his talent.

Kyle Busch races hard and clean with those who race him the same way.:)

It was 100 percent on purpose. All the fans at BMS standing up and Booing Big E proved it. I believe even Big E was shocked to hear all the boo's that day. :D

Jeff Burton is a class act. There are a lot of guys that would have used their bumper to grab the win. Burton is not one of them. (Now watch, he'll prove me wrong next week... )

Whiz, I agree with you on the younger Busch. Long before he was even driving in NASCAR (truck series) at about the age of 16, I heard that he was a much better driver than Kurt. I believe he just has a natural ability to race.

Kellogg, now you're showing your bias towards Terry. While I was totally an ABEer, I understood that he had a style of driving (aggressiveness) that I just didn't care for and many others didn't as well, but there were those zillions of fans of his that did love the way he drove. I don't believe that old Ironhead ever with malice aforethought, put someone into the wall. Knocking them out of the way, now that's a horse of a different color.

I think Kyle sure has his brother beat.

lol yeah he did. He tried to bump Burton and ended up putting himself in the wall.

Kurt, Kyle and Jeff Burton

Kyle may be better than Kurt.....at this point he has a much better team and car, but Kurt is a champ....;)

by the way Penske racing sucks....they have 2 fantastic drivers, but seem to be hanging in the middle of the pack...

and yes Jeff Burton is a class act, but this is one reason he and Mark martin have never won a championship......sometimes nice gets you 2nd place...Mark won a good bit of races in his career, but not that good a racer under pressure, or shall I say a good closer...unless he was 20 car lengths ahead....and for Jeff Burton same thing just not a hard enough driver to dig down and get a little nasty...Dale E could spin em' and win em' and he was an icon!!!....:beerbang:
