Kyle, Kurt Busch to run the full season with Monster Energy: Kyle Busch Motorsports announced that it has signed a multi-year agreement with Monster Energy Company as primary sponsor of the team's #54 Monster Energy Camry in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Team owner Kyle Busch, the all-time race winning driver in the history of the NASCAR Nationwide Series, will share driving duties with his brother Kurt Busch, the 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion. Kyle will drive the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway and the subsequent four races through California before splitting the balance of the season with Kurt. The team's goal will be to capture an Owner's Championship in its inaugural race season, similar to the Owner's Championship accomplished by KBM in its first full season in the Camping World Truck Series in 2010. The development of this duo as teammates fits perfectly for primary team sponsor Monster Energy, who foregoes traditional forms of advertising and instead seeks brand exposure through the use of Extreme Athletes. With Monster Energy looking for increased presence across the NASCAR fan base, the company identified the Busch brothers as the drivers that best fit its family of Monster Energy Team Athletes. To complement the driver lineup, and ensure a strong competitive advantage, KBM brings industry veteran and winning crew chief Mike Beam into the fold as the #54 Monster Energy Camry team leader. Beam is a long-time fixture in NASCAR who has accomplished career victories across all three major touring series. At an early age, Mike became a successful contributor towards a variety of competitive racing organizations including Petty Enterprises and Roush Fenway Racing.(KBM), see an image of the car on the #54 team paint scheme page.(1-19-2012)

That's a good sponsor for them. I was HOPING Kyle would have up and coming drivers in that car. Guess it's status-quo.

1st thing, I could sweat that M&M's put their foot down on the whole running two series ain't good for goodness of sake?

2nd Why in the SAM D__K, would Monster Energy say what is in big red letters above? Do they want the world to think that all Monster athletes treat other competitors with disrespect and ill-will? Or is it that they like how Kurt acts like a douchnugget in open public in front of one of the most respected people in the garage?

I was looking foward to Carl and all these other "gotta run two series assholes" giving it up for the guys who need to polish their skills before they can be considered for a cup ride.

So are they dropping Ricky Carmichael? Plus I think they got the wrong kind of "extreme" athlete:rolleyes:

Glad he lined up a sponsor in these tough times. HE MUST be doing SOMETHING RIGHT.
Wonder why Jack can't land a Sponsor?

Pic from Jayski

Pretty dull pain job

this should be interesting. i don't think the brothers can work together without a blowup on the horizon. so who's right when they disagree on something? <g>

Now that Carl's out of Nationwide, Kyle sees easy wins.

I thought things were looking up for Nationwide. Instead, it's continuing on the downhill slope.

Until the nationwide series has more than 15 full time drivers I don't see an issue with it. It's a drowning series that needs big names to attract viewers.

Wow..this is huge for Monster Energy . This will not only give this an incredible amount of National exposure for their dollar , but it will give them a National Championship .. . which is what sports marketing is all about . Gentlemen this is check and mate for Monster Energy .

Can't win a Championship in NNS unless the drivers choose not to run for the Championship in Cup. That's NOT going to happen with Kyle. Doubt it will happen with Kurt either.

I don't like the Busch brothers but I support all sponsors and am happy to see Monster join the sport. Hopefully they will learn to pick better drivers once this contract runs out.

They can win the owner's championship. They sponsored Ricky Carmicheal in the trucks and he didn't really do much. Maybe they decided to give drivers that have won a chance, and see if they can get their money's worth.

Monster energy has been in the truck series for years. They just switched from TMS.

I used to enjoy the NNS races but now have a feeling that the TV coverage will make it intolerable for me to watch.

I'm sure I'll find a better use of my time than listening to those two being compared every race, all race. Maybe I'll do some painting then watch it dry.

The coverage of the team on this site alone should give you some idea of the media attention they will get . At times it may even take some posters attention away from Danica. :D Just sayin.

i think that there will be a lot of media attention as well as fan attention this year in the nns series. danica, the busch brothers, austin dillon and i'm sure others will stand out. i'm looking forward to it. :)

Despite recent speculation to the contrary, Kurt Busch confirmed Tuesday he will compete for the Sprint Cup championship under the Phoenix Racing banner.

Some reports suggested that Busch, 33, was considering racing for the Nationwide Series championship rather than the Cup title.

A really smart marketing move by Monster Energy Drink. Although the Busch Brothers cannot challenge for the title as drivers they can challenge for the title as a team and that gives more bang for the buck to Monster.

For every person who dislikes either or both of the Busch Brothers, one thing is guaranteed. You will be watching and hoping they get beat. And if you say you won't watch, you still know Monster Energy Drink is their sponsor. In advertising in todays highly competitive market, that is quite a coup.

Totally, hit the nail on the head...Monster will get so much advertising out of this.

The brothers are now racing where they belong, in the lesser series. I totally disagree on the importance of the sponsorship. The Nationwide series does not get the viewership it used to get. Monster Energy will not receive big sales increases as a result of the sponsorship, based on my experience when I was marketing manager for a racing team.

Funny, I thought they were both racing full time in the cup:confused:

Just curious, what makes one belong in a "lesser" series?

Don't you think the controversy alone will stimulate sales? Maybe not to epic proportions but name recognition for Monster will rise faster with the Busch Brothers in the series than it would with Ricky Carmichael. And that isn't taking anything away from Carmichael but by comparison, he is a bit vanilla.

Every time an announcer mentions either of the Busch Brothers involvement in the nationwide Series, Monster Energy Drink will be mentioned because they took the chance on two controversial personalities. Like Dale Earnhardt or Darrell Waltrip, you either love them or hate them but either way it is advertising $$$$.
Every time one of the Busch Brothers becomes involved in any controversy, real or perceived, announcers will mention Monster Energy Drink took the chance and knew what they were getting. All that leads to sales. Maybe not of the magnitude Monster Energy Drink projects but the circumstances alone dictate greater name recognition and name recognition means, sales.

Ohhhhh boy this is just a pairing waiting to explode, I cant wait! Nothing makes me happier than seeing these two idiots make themselves look bad.

It would be funny if it worked out!!!! You know how many people would have egg on their face...just sayin'

Totally agree that the 'brothers" are bigger for sponsorship than Carmichael. my point though is that it is not an earth shattering sponsorship. Hell, we had the use of one of the biggest names in Nascar to use as part of the attraction for our team and it didn't work out.

Those big red letters look GREAT with 3D glasses!

Thanks Moe.

You are welcome.

Maybe you should watch the truck races a little more.

What's going to be different about the TV coverage?

Ah yes, another sponsor who will have to release a statement this year when Kyle or Kurt screw up. :p

I can't wait

+5

Maybe you could divulge this information to us?

Yep this must be inside information. Can't dispute that.

Red bull spends more money than we can imagine on 4 F1 cars. And he makes money. Can't argue with that.

Yo race fan. I checked out your link , liked it and added it to my favorites list. Good luck with that.:beerbang:
