Rubbermaid has taken a page from the Home Depot book and stepped in to show their displeasure with their driver. Rubbermaid is forcing him into a mentoring program which consists of "media training, regularly scheduled meetings between Busch and his Roush Racing teammates and other veteran competitors so Busch "can learn from their years of racing experience, both on and off the track." This will be the second time Busch has had to attend seminars to deal with his behavior. Will he learn anything this time round??

Yeah...if Kurt is smart he could learn to call their bluff. He has won more races than any driver since the beginning of last season.Twice as much exposure for Rubbermaid than Gordon(for instance) has given Dupont.

LMAO that Rubbermaid-Newell is trying this obvious PR stunt. They are concerned about Kurt's behavior all the way to the bank.Good front for the cameras, guys.

Now let that boy drive and win.

97, your dead wrong bro! Rubbermaid is serious, just as Home Depot was. I'm sure they got a lot of email complaints about Busch's childishness, just like Home Depot did over Tony (I'm a cry baby) Stewart.

These companies want clean images of thier spotlight boys, make no mistake about it, Koby Bryant can tell you that, and so could Juice (I'm a murderer) Simpson.

The publicity stunt is actually a warning to Busch that he won't have them as a sponsor if he don't stop acting like an idiot.

I think he is a compulsive out of controll little brat, and he won't learn until he loses his ride. Pride goes before the fall you know, he needs to suck it up, and humble himself so the fall won't be so hard. :bounce:

Busch sure attracted a lot of negative attention over all this.
I read stories about fans having " free Jimmy" banners and a whole lot of other stuff. sure made him look bad. I don't blame the sponsor for stepping in.

Sponsors want attention but they don't want the kind that Busch has given them especially at the race that they sponsored. I would imagine they had people watching or even in attendence that they wanted to have shown a good impression. Not very good when the driver you sponsor gets booed royaly at both the beginning and the end.

Is Sharpie owned by Rubbermaid? I'm not too business savy, so I'm not sure. But I'd say Sharpie got the most bang for their advertising buck last weekend and are kicking their heels. If Rubbermaid pulls out, I'm sure Sharpie will step up.

IMO, Home Depot never had a problem with Tony Stewart's attitude otherwise they would have pulled their sponsorship before they ever came up with the fine & probation of Tony. Lot's of other teams out there that could use a good sposonsor, but you know HD wants to stay with a proven winning team. It was a PR move to make themselves look like they were concerned & to gain a little free publicity. It got their name mentioned. I think NASCAR was the only ones who had a problem with Tony.

My bro-in-law works at a HD in Milw and they are not allowed to were any NASCAR related clothes at work unless it's Tony's, that's how much they are into this NASCAR thing. If they switched teams, they would make the employees were the new driver's stuff.

The company that sponsors Kurt Busch's car is Newell-Rubbermaid. Rubbermaid is a company in itself under the "father" Newell-Rubbermaid company. Same with Sharpie and Irwin Tools. So essentially, Newell-Rubbermaid sponsors the car but they put the name of their different divisions on the car for better marketability.

From what I had understood last year HD wasn't happy with Tony's problems and I doubt that Kurt's is either. Getting a lot of bang for your buck is good, but not at a race that you are the sponsor and not when it is a lot of bad publicity. They pay out way to much in sponsor money to allow a bad boy image. Most sponsors are looking at wanting a good positive family image any more, but then again this is JMO.

That is something that the store has set up. I worked for HD for 6 years, I was there when the whole HD and Nascar thing came about. Still have many friends that work for HD and I have not heard such a thing in any of the other stores.
