Among some others.....

Nice effort and good deal for Joey Clanton to make the field.

Bad for Jason Jarrett who practiced fast enough to have made this field on time. He was scheduled to be the second car out in qualifying so I assume he and Ciccarelli are the two drivers who crashed before the water seepage was found. Ya can't get a much worse break of luck than that.

Also a thumbs up for Carl Long, good to see him in a race.

Is Carl Long related to Leonard Long of Long Tool & Die up in PA?...the folks that make G-Force Trannys?

Hmm...never made the connection.

He could be related but I believe Carl is originally from North Carolina. I have no idea where Leonard hails from.

I would tend to guess no, and if related it may be arm's length.

Thanks HS. Maybe I should remember to just ask, the next time we need to replace a gear set.

Heck yeah they break! But, they'll take a lot more punishment than a Jerico, Richmond or any factor piece. We run the "clutchless" version. They're made specifically for high winding small blocks. You're setup needs to be perfect, because pedaling will put you right in neutral...the input shaft needs constant torque. You dump the clutch out of the hole and stay on the wood all the way down the track while your row the gears. If you lift for any reason, your race is over.

...now that's racin'!!!!

Tire shake can rake a gear. NOT being positive with a shift can hurt a slider...next round, you wont get your gear and it's raked!!!!

Those shiny gears are all made of unopbanium...as is the main and cluster shafts!...I've got a pic around here somewhere that I can dig up.
