What the heck is NASCAR thinking throwing a red flag with one lap before it becomes an official race? What if tomorrow's race is also rained out/rain delayed? What then?

I think they may be thinking that if it stops raining they will shorten the race because it's getting dark......maybe a 50 lap shot out.
