The announcement that 2002 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Mike Bliss is leaving the series may come as early as Monday. Bliss is reportedly headed to the Busch Series to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing. Word has it that he will take over the Rockwell-sponsored car as a teammate to Coy Gibbs, who is also leaving the series for BGN.

Renshaw has signed to drive in the BGN with Team Bristol [#54] and car owner Rick Goodwin.

In trucks...."The Xpress Motorsports IWX #16 CTS team has reportedly signed Travis Kvapil and is working on finding funding for a second team."

Latest Cup rumor..."Chip Ganassi wanted Dave Blaney to replace Jimmy Spencer in the #41 Dodge next year, but Blaney said Sunday he's committed to returning to Jasper Motorsports and the #77 Ford. With Blaney off the market, Busch Series driver Hank Parker Jr. now is the leading candidate at Ganassi"

All this is from BGNracing.com

Silly season has been going on for awhile in the BGN series, but there are still several question marks for next season. Mike Bliss moving up is sort of a surprise.

The move up by Bliss doesn't surprise me very much. Mike has served his time in the truck series, runnisng some 143 races with 12 wins, 16 poles adn 81 top 10 finishes in those races. He started the truck series back in 1995.

Mike had a run at the WC series in 2000 as well running most of the season in the #27 Viagra Pontiac. I think he ran one race that season in the #14 as well. Results were less than eye catching with one top ten finish for the season.

That foray into WC seemed to somewaht derail Mike's career as 2001 was dismal for him. Mike was unable to secure any more than spot starts in any of the NASCAR series during 2001.

Back this season in the CTS with a vengeance, Mike captured the series crown over Rick Crawford and WC veteran Ted Musgrave. This has earned him the opportunity to make a run in the BGN series with what might be presumed to be a top notch team. Mike has only 7 career starts in the BGN ranks, one top ten in those starts.

Good Luck to him.

Very interesting that the rumor is that Ganassi may be leaning towards another rookie for his WC stable. Two rookies, Jamie and Hank, would team with veteran Sterling Marlin in that operation. Could be that rookies require little in the way of contract obligations and Chip seems to tend towards making changes quickly in his drivers.

Winston Cup scene has reported that the job of Crew chief for the #77 has been accepted by Bob "Bootie" Barker. Ya suppose he said "The Price is Right"! :)

Ganassi is crazy I thought we had cleared that up awhile ago. Seeing Bliss move up wouldn't surprise me. He won a championship, why stay where you are? Only Cup drivers should try to repeat.

do not forget kevin grubb is moving up to cup for roty next year for team bristol
