"But he can bite my ass when he says I'll never get it fixed."

Yates confirmed that Stephen Leicht, who is running his first Cup race this weekend, is in line for one of his rides. He said Ward Burton, who has been away from the sport for almost two years, is a candidate for the other.

"Everybody talks about a few bumps in the road," Yates said. "Well, I expected that. What kills you are those Waltrips."
:D

 Three cheers for Robert Yates !!!

I like the way he responded to Darrell Waltrip, in the same vein as Tony Stewart when Darrell was mouthing off about him.
Darrell's time in NASCAR has been written in the history book and that is where it should be. In Waltrip's time, he was one of the best but his time is past. People with lesser egoes know when it is time to pull the plug on a career.

Keep an eye on Robert Yates Racing. Robert knows what is wrong with the organization and has a design on the drawing board to correct it.

Unlike Darrell, who thought he was going to have sure-fire success with his own team, failed and failed miserably.
Before Darrell Waltrip criticizes Robert Yates Racing for poor performance, or anyone else for that matter, he should do a little recollection from his own past by reviewing similarities.

Robert, I salute you for your comment. :salute:

DW needs to keep his mouth shut...esp if his brother is one of the reasons that RYR lost one of his drivers.

history shows that Robert Yates knows more about operating a race team than the old has been DW.

We know of course, what happened to DW, but let's hold off on Mikey's charge. We do not know yet how that will turn out. I remember once when a perenial backmarker by the name of Richard Childress decided to run a team instead of drive his car and look what happened. Top dogs who decided to own a team and have someone else drive for them have forever been bad teams. Cale tried it and failed. Even Richard Petty, who has more backing than most teams still isn't one of the top teams. Only time will tell whether or not a perenial back marker like Mikey will be a successful team owner, but one thing is for certain, he was successful in getting driver and sponsor away from RYR. Yates has a right to voice his opinion and no doubt, anyone in his shoes would surely be ticked at both Waltrips. I know that Davis/Ford is still ticked at Hendricks/Chevrolet for snatching away Jeffy, so Robert will probably never get over this move by Waltrip/Toyota. I think that Yates should move forward as I'm sure he will do, and let this go where it's going, fodder for the fans.

Maybe if Yates does team with Rensi, where he can concentrate on Cup and performance while Rensi does the marketing, Busch and driver development they can find success and eventually 4 teams in Cup and Busch. Add Robbie Gordon into the mix as rumored and things could get real interesting real fast.

I think Yates is on a downward path that he can't escape from. Jack pretty much sealed his fate, or rather Yates sealed his own when he aligned himself with Roush sharing engine technology. Yates is crying foul now, why didn't he cry foul about Jack? I think there is a lot more behind this than the fans will ever know for quite sometime. I still think that Jack Roush calls the shots at Yates , i have thought this for a few seasons now. Of course this is just my OPINION.... I want to emphasise that emphatically.

If Yates alignment with Roush isn't working for him maybe he discontinues the relationship. He doesn't appear to have benefitted from it. Robert and Doug can still get it done. And, having to get 2 new drivers is a chance for a new start.

I think RYR will be back as a serious contender IF Robert concentrates on more than the engines. Roush doesn't seem to have a big problem with the same engines.

As for the contract Sadler had. Yates would have been calling D'hondt a genius for putting in the escape clause by "either" party if Sadler had turned out to be a dud driver.
