After last Monday's column, where we discussed the role of the television networks in the decline of sponsorship, I developed a bad case of carpal tunnel syndrome in my left wrist, answering all of the email. After Wednesday's "Lady in Black" column, the right wrist has now caught up, but here we go again!

In examining the lack of sponsorship even further, we have to look at the Busch Series as well as the Cup Series. Surely, we've all noticed a growing number of plain black or white cars in Busch, indicating not a hint of a sponsor. The same network practices are being perpetrated in that series that we've already discussed in Cup, hence we are seeing the same result, perhaps on an even greater scale. Your writer has personal knowledge of at least one unnamed Busch sponsor that is seriously considering withdrawing funds at the end of this year, as a direct result of unfair network coverage.

I'm not always in agreement with this authors views, however I do enjoy her style and thought prevoking articles. Hope some of you enjoy it as well. :D

This article and her referenced tie to one by Don Hamm are very interesting reads.
I highly recommend that you go to the site and read them.

After more thinking, and reading several other articles which could tie into this I really think she might be onto something as far as everybit of this has been planned long ago and is being carefully orcastrated into play now.

An example; Rockingham...... Take a date away and move it to a ISC track, ( CA) then offer to sell the track to SMI as part of the settlement so they (Texas) can get their second date. But they only get 1 date because ISC has already scarfed 1 from it. So if SMI wants more dates for other tracks it owns it will have to purchase additional tracks from ISC that they (ISC) consider losing propositions and want out from under. (Darlington) Thus making them more money, blaming the closing and sale on the lawsuit and moving races from the Southeast to larger markets which will make them even more money.

Still thinking........Hmmmmm............. pretty scarey.........

Oh Yes!!! and of course we need more race tracks towards the western part of the country if we're going to have an "East" & "West" division.

After a little more thought, I think I'm like Tiny, I like the idea.

Also if ABC/ESPN comes back into play and they show sponser logo's and mention them without rapeing them for more big bucks.
