Saw that earlier today, never thought Mayfield was all that capable in Cup, even though he made the Chase, something about the guy always rubbed me the wrong way.

Okay I gotta say I am not a big Jeremy fan and I do not think he is the best driver in the workd BUT his problems this year have not all been him. Bill Davis racing needs to think about what kind of driver will want to come drive for a team that places last on the speed chart. That ain't the driver that is lack of a car.

I've always taken up for Mayfield, but not really a fan of his.....Weird, I know. He got a bad deal from Rusy. I feel that's where alot of it started.

I've read the Jeremy can be hard to work with. If that's true or not, I dunno, but I agree that BDR may be jumping the gun here. The bad thing is that it now makes JM look practically unhireable from the outside.

Must be reason in my opinion, but then again we don't know all the facts, but i have also heard Mayfield is hard to work for. Hell, he turned on Evernham, even if Ray did deserve it you don't go and trash talk your owner and expect have a job the next day.

As I read elsewhere, Jeremy may now have the "sell by" tag stamped on him, deserved or not.

UPDATE: Jeremy Mayfield will not return to Bill Davis Racing next year, the team announced Tuesday. A replacement driver has not been named. Mayfield, who joined BDR after a contentious divorce from Evernham Motorsports, has struggled this season. His #36 Toyota Camry team has qualified for only eight of 21 races. The team also failed to build continuity or momentum, going through several crew chief changes in an attempt to find the right chemistry. Team owner Bill Davis said Mayfield had "done all we asked of him and more' as the team took on the challenge of Toyota's first season in the Nextel Cup series and adjusting to the Car of Tomorrow template. But Davis still decided to make a change. "We have had great support from Toyota on this endeavor, but it takes more than just manufacturer support to compete on this level," Davis said. "It takes a tremendous amount of additional sponsorship support that just did not materialize as we had anticipated. I've been in this sport long enough to know that it takes time to bring a brand new car up to speed in what is probably the most competitive racing series in the world," Mayfield said in the team's news release. "When I made the decision to move here to BDR with an untested car and a sponsor completely unfamiliar with NASCAR, I knew it would be somewhat of a gamble. I believed then, and I believe now, that Toyota has a bright future in the Cup aeries and is making progress every weekend. But I think I have delivered what I can to the effort and looking at the total picture -- what's best for me, what's best for the team -- I believe this is the right time for me to consider other opportunities."(ESPN.com)(8-9-2007)

I had a friend from High School that worked on the #12 Mobile One /37Kmart Little Ceasers car when Mayfield was at Kranfus/Hass-Penske...I've heard the guy is a dick and is really hard to work for.

I guess I lost respect for him when he dumped his first wife for a trophy wife.

yup...i did too....i remember when that happened...when he was still married to his first wife was when my boy was workin for him....as soon as he got a little bit of success....out the door she went....and in came the airhead he's married too now.

makes me sad Jeremy is parting was with yet another team. And I feel it's all because he's not happy with his team, thus why the parting of ways, not at all because he can't drive, but because he's gotten crappy equipment or the atmoshere wasn't right.....

Didn't get along with Rusty at Penske.

Once Kahne came over to Evernham, the main focus and time was put on him and less and less for Jeremy who wound up with crappy equipment.

And now here, BDR doesn't have good equipment either.

Jeremy hasn't been happy where he's been. And he and Shana have commented on that too.

This owners are so impatient, and the blame their lack of good equipment on the drivers not being able to run well in it.

Like if Jeremy would be put in my wish of an RCR car he could run sooo well!!!

And let's use Kerry Earnhardt for example. He's never ran well, because he's always been put in good equipment, but then when RCR hires him to drive and Daytona and Dega he finds his way to the top 10!!! And the only reason that he doesn't finish there is because of his crappy luck sending him straight into the wrecks!

So yeah, that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

*wishes and hopes RCR would hire Jeremy!!!!!!!*

I have but one question and I am guessing that it really goes to the women here. What's wrong with a trophy wife? I do believe that I've got one whether anybody else thinks so or not.

You know, it always gets me when a high profile personality, whether a race driver or what, has a divorce and remarries. The first reaction, and mostly from the women is that the outgoing woman was a b!#ch, unless that woman happens to be someone who looks like the girl next door and then the new woman is what is called a trophy wife. Seems to me that what is really going on is jealousy. Girls, you can't have it both way here. It takes two to tango and unless you really know what's going on between the sheets so to speak, then you really can't make a reasonable opinion on it all. For all we know, Jeremy might be a real a**hole and his first wife is glad that he's out of her life. For all we know, Brooke Gordon is glad to be out of the control of Jeff. Yes, it could totally be the other way around in both of those cases, but the biggest percentage of the population doesn't have the slightest idea of what went on in either of those families.

Okay, back to the women bashing.

Trophy wives are alright in my book too. But as far as Jeremy goes, he had good equipment at Evernham he finished in the chase 2 years in a row i believe. But when it came to really gelling with his team i don't think that ever happened, so it leads me to believe he has a hard time getting along with people.

Yeah, he had good equipment there for a while, but the way I see, it started fading, and yeah, he didn't gel well with the team any longer, he and Shana made the clear. I believe it was a mixture of both.

Hey rh I like the pictures of Ricky. I think he was a good kid. Wasn't cut out to be a driver but maybe that experience helped his being a owner.

I never had much use for Jeremy as a driver. He has always seemed to get less out of his equipment than was possible. I certainly don't see him getting a good ride for next season. He's had plenty of opportunity to succeed in the past and has simply not done so. Whether it is a lack of talent, effort or personality we will never know. But the proof is in the pudding as they say.

The only thing he ever did that I liked was the hilarious commercial where he picked up the girl for his date and she had gotten ready by wearing gasoline for perfume and putting motor oil in her bubble bath. That was a great commercial. Anyone else here remember that?

Thanks :) but they're a friend's graphics. They rock don't they?
Yeah, I agree.
