I heard that ticket sales for California were not good for the Cup race and ticket sales for the Nationwide race are downright awful. Anyone else heard this?

Not surprised that race rarely sells out, should only have 1 date for that track, in the fall, not spring.

I've heard the same.

Actually, we (meaning Cesar, owner of racingforthewin.com) have heard some interesting rumors coming out of Auto Club Speedway of Southern California. I've heard similar things to what he's heard from some of my people... if this is true, there are going to be some interesting announcements coming out of that speedway in the next few weeks.

Now that's interesting!

It is interesting to read that you have heard some interesting things and they may be interesting to the rest of us in the interesting future...

Yeh what is the big secret???

Homestead gets a second date and it's the second race of the season, Atlanta goes to one race, and California gets moved back a few weeks.

the only thing that could help Cali is if they build a Bristol inside of it and have the race there.Changing their race dates isn't going to change a thing. It still won't sell.

I hope the part about Atlanta losing a date is wrong. That'd suck.

yeh so say it.
Andy's source is one of the Speed TV producers he met at NJMP.

Not what Cesar's source is, but it's different.

And both sources said same thing.

We're just waiting for a statement from ISC.

That track is about 200 miles north of here, and I've been a few times...It's an awesome facility...I think maybe the problem is where it's at. It's real far inland from the coast, so the weather sort of sucks. It gets freekin' hot out there.Or it rains.
And LA people are so transparent...They take pride in arriving at Doger games in the 3rd inning, and leaving in the 7th....It's all about appearances.

I've been there as well, but not on race weekend. Yea the facility is nice, the racing just sucks.

Oh gawd.... don't tell me their going to give California the last race of the season???!!!!!!!! Please say no no no no no no!!!!

Boy if thats true nobody will watch the final race of the season. Most of the time the champion ship is won by flipping the switch to start the engine. So if its at california thats one more reason to watch football that day. Oh wait its during deer season......No reason to get out of the treestand then lol

Ok so they are going to reconfigure California? That is what they did to both Atlanta and Homestead. I think California is a great track, it is the location that sucks, the fact that they drive into the sun on the backstretch, and the marketing that is really hurting them. If they do in fact reconfigure and move / loose a date, I hope that Vegas gets their second date for a fall race, I'm there in a heart beat if that happens.:D

Ya'll're thinking entirely too hard.

Here's a hint: My concern will be tires first, RP's second if the G forces get that high (raw speeds won't be a problem)

Zucker wants to reconfigure ACS. She's the one that brought up the idea last year but NASCAR/ISC would have none of it.

All they really need to do to ACSSC is add about 10-15° of progressive banking and the racing would improve. I just imagine they'd need a restrictor plate if ACS reconfigured to clone Homestead, the speeds would be incredible.

I don't think the racing there has been all that great. Something needs to be done to improve the competition.

the other part of the problem is the location of the track..... not so much the its too inland, its too far west........... The interest in NASCAR dies once you pretty much cross the Mississppi River. Or at least a few years ago, when we went out there thats the way it is. It took two days to find out who won the 500 at Charlotte.
