Calling all FORD guys (Bobby, Mike, ect?)

Need these ID'd. Fast.

Supposed to be a Mustang II front suspension. The rotors seem to be right, 4 on 4.5 lug with 9.25" diameter, but pads we are lost on. Inners and outers are the same- 4.5" long with a 4" long contact pad, 1.5" tall if that matters.

Went to 2 O'Reilly's, 2 Auto zones a CarQuest, a race shop, none of them had any idea. Not helping, none of them had brake line hardware, either (elbows or reducers or anything of that sort)

Sorry mag not much of a Ford guy.Have you tried a NAPA store?Some of those guys are pretty helpful.I won't even try a autozone or o'reilly anymore.Or try calling the guy you bought the car from?In all my years of working on cars I don't remember one having the same inner & outer brake pads on it.Did you try looking at any Vega or Monza brake stuff or maybe Pinto.That's about the only 4 lug stuff that people used to use.

Tried Pinto, but not a monza or vega..

Nearest NAPa is in pantego.

You have the F100 in your garage, figured you might know something

The same inner/outer is what stumped the store guys...stupid computerheads...

That's a 64 Chevy Short Bed in my garage.
 
4 bolt rotors indicates non-V8 car...maybe late 70's - early 80's 4 or 6 cyl. Mustang. There should be numbers somewhere.
I see a number on one of the caliper mounts, it appears to be "D" something...There should be numbers inside the rotor, too.
See if you can read the numbers, then post what you see.
 
Ah, Mustang II suspension? I would say the old model Mercury Capri....not the Fox body Capri package, the early-mid 1970's euro version. Back then Ford spread any parts they had around pretty broadly.


Just a guess.
 
In fact, after some more memory straining(I suck at googling and the Capri has one of the most confusing lineages of any Ford product anyhow) I'm almost certain the old Capri brakes, throttle cables, some suspension parts, etc, were incorporated into the Mustang II's. NOT Pinto components as one might naturally assume.

I would ask the parts guy(actually, a junkyard would be more likely to be helpful) if they matched a '74 mercury capri. Or hunt for Capri parts of that era. You get the point.

Of course, this is all by memory so I admit I aint positive. All I AM positive of is it took me two years to find a simple throttle linkage for a damned '74 Capri once. They had some funky euro-trick pieces that found their way into the most maligned Mustang of all time.(Even though I kinda liked the Cobra II.)

Actually, after 4 hours of driving around and what not, we went to advance autoparts website, they have all the diagrams for brake pads. Sure enough, 1972 Pinto with the 1.6 was dead on in all dimensions.
 
And thats why the memory is the first thing to go, lol....

Glad you matched it.

We were flat dumbfounded. Then we figured... The brake pad is 4 inches long...What the hell has a 4 inch brake pad? so we started in the mazdas, then the dodge colt, and just went up the line till we hit the 72 pinto.
