Colin Kaepernick's unusual deal with the San Francisco 49ers continues to have reverberations across the NFL landscape. That includes the Cam Newton camp.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday on NFL Total Access that Kaepernick's contract -- a pact that includes just $13 million in guaranteed money -- "really scares people who know Cam Newtonvery well."

The structure of Kaepernick's deal essentially allows the Niners to evaluate the quarterback on a year-to-year basis. There is a fear in Newton's circle that Kaepernick's deal is a sign of things to come in how teams do business with franchise quarterbacks.

According to Rapoport, guaranteed money is what counts for Newton, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal with theCarolina Panthers. Newton wants a contract that will provide more guaranteed money and a higher yearly salary than what Kaepernick received.

Talks between the Panthers and Newton have yet to begin. According to Rapoport, Newton's people are simply waiting for the Panthers to start a dialogue.

You can safely assume that the agents for Newton and Andy Dalton won't be breaking bread with Kaepernick's people any time soon.

At any normal job, your pay is based on your overall performance.
I wish congress and government officials were paid based on their performance.

Seriously, though, if I could be a high paid athlete, I'd want to be a NASCAR driver. You get paid millions to drive racecars, not play with a ball. What could be better?

Do you think Clowney can fit in a race car? :D

Could die or be stuck driving a crappy car.

I don't know, man. There's a part of me that really envies MMA fighters. I know most of them don't make the big time and end up dead broke financially and physically broken for the rest of their lives, but I've always admired fighters. Of course, growing up it was boxers, but fighters just have a warrior mentality and they get to test themselves physically in an almost ultimate man to man contest on a regular basis. They train their bodies daily to get and keep them prepared for battle. They grind through day after day all in the pursuit of a dream, and many even long after that dream fades, when they just keep driving on just because it's what they do and who they are.
