Can Dale Jarrett be any classier?

He totally rocks!

Was hoping someone would start this thread... :)

Yea, I just heard about what he said in the meeting. You gotta respect him for that. I bet Tony appreciated it too.

It's probably just somebody trying to make a little cash the easy way. :(

Ok Paul, this is too much. I agree with you 100% on this one too.
:p

DJ is certainly among the classiest ever, made the same comment in the chat room. He comes by it honest too.:)

Add leadership to that. Dale said what most of them were likely thinking, he just has the class, maturity and leadership to say it first. That had to let Tony know that none of his fellow drivers were convicting him. A reassuring notion at 140mph.

It has been apparent to those of us who follow DJ closely that since the death of Earnhardt he has become a defacto leader in the garage.

What he said in the driver's meeting was perfect as nothing means more to Tony than the support of his peers.

And it would appear that he has that fully. Jeff Hammond Mike Joy and Larry Mac all dismissed the incident and defended Stewart as a man with a "target" painted on his back.

DJ will always be the gentleman of the sport for me. The support he gave Tony will be backed up by the other drivers.

DJ has learned his lessons well. His father is a great roll model. I think getting support like this fom someone such as DJ will go along way in helping Tony get over this situation. Let's hope other drivers will be as classy.

his dad is pretty impressive too. seems like a really nice family.
pretty teriffic thing to do for tony.

I have to agree with you guys that DJ is the classiest guy in racing. Even though i didnt hear the comment he made. (My cable isnt hooked up yet we just built a new house so I missed it.) Does anyone care to fill me in on what he said?----Thank You

Is still the same Dale Jarrett that bitched about the rescue crews after the multiple car wreck that he caused? That's a classy guy? I guess everyone in Nascar is classy then if sticking up for Mr. Inocent Tony Stewart makes you classy.

I wouldn't necessarily call it class, I'd call it leadership. I'm glad he spoke up though. Tony needs to see he has the support of his fellow drivers because every time something like this happens, Tony is one step closer to leaving Cup for good (on his own terms). Though I've been critical of him in the past, I'll admit these allegations sound rediculus. It would be a shame if he leaves, he's the best driver out there.

Definitely. I've always liked DJ. He is the classiest guy in the sport and may I say, a wonderful spokesman! HATS OFF TO DALE JARRETT!

No sure what DJ's exact words were in the drivers meeting, words of support for Tony indicating that the drivers recognize that Tony is a big reason that the fans are there and that NASCAR needs Tony, followed by applause from the drivers is what I hear.

DJ did have these words for the media:

Stewart's strongest support came from fellow driver Dale Jarrett.

"Tony is what I consider a good friend and he's a big part of this sport," Jarrett said. "I certainly don't know the whole situation, but I do know Tony Stewart.

"And I know how especially after a race we can be frustrated, but I know that he hasn't done anything wrong as far as assaulting anyone.

"I just know in talking to other drivers that he has a lot of support out here. . . . We know that for this sport to continue, he needs to be a big part of it."

Jarrett and others say part of the problem is the large number of fans that clog the garage at every race. Pushing and shoving becomes inevitable with so many people in a relatively small place.

"We could all say that we got assaulted every weekend," Jarrett said. "I've been pushed around and knocked down more times than I could tell you."

LOL! Are you seriously faulting a guy for complaining that the rescue crews left him for dead out in the middle of the track?

Puhlease! ROFL

Personally, I think DJ even handled that safety crew issue with dignity. He didn't "go off" curse and scream, just calmly and firmly stated his reasons for being pissed.
His support of Tony was typical of this gentleman and he has never (in my view) been anything but one cclass act.
