Oops, parts confiscated ay 'Dega: NASCAR inspectors confiscated several parts from Winston Cup teams prior to Friday's first practice. A rear spoiler that did not fit the template was taken from Rusty Wallace's #2 Miller Lite Ford. Unapproved straps used to secure the rear window were taken from Mark Martin's #6 Viagra Ford. In addition, two unapproved trailing arm rear-spring buckets - on which the rear springs are mounted - were taken from both the #14 Conseco Pontiac of Mike Wallace and the #11 Hooters Ford of Brett Bodine.(ThatsRacin.com)(10-4-2002)

Rusty is gonna have a real hard time getting around the track without a rear spoiler....that's all I have to say about that

He should have points taken away for a spoiler violation at Dega!

First off, do you know what type of violation it was? Secondly, it was caught before he was even on the track. All I have seen on this is that the Spoiler didn't "fit" the template. Kinda hard to make a points judgement call based on that. Think about it.

All these violations come out at these tracks. It's insane how much illegal equipment teams try to get away with at restrictor plate tracks.

Very true....but here's a question.....how many fines will there be following the race, maybe for a car height not being up to snuff. Isn't junior up for a a million again???? :)

We'll have to wait and see, but I guarentee that theres gonna be a lot of stuff that teams get away with...Too bad thats what this sport is and has been.

Yeah, good thing they caught Mark with them window straps. That would have given him a runaway win.

Give me a break MLite. You don't think those guys don't have there own templates to measure with. I don't seem to recall where they missed the mark at any other track this year.

I don't think there will be fines because it wasn't a post race inspection.

Teams will get fines for bringing 'illegal' parts through the inspection line, but I don't recall points being lost until post-race inspection. That's the real inspection to pay attention to.

From what I understand getting through tech on Friday morning was very tough.

The story has it that not one car made it through on the first try. Lots of front end changes were being required by the NASCAR techies.

Teams continue to search for every little edge.

You can tell all the cowboys to leave there guns at the door, but bet your arse some of them are gonna have pea shooter up there sleeve.:P Nothing new here:rolleyes:
