My dad died from complications to metastatic pancreatic cancer in 2007.
Tomorrow I’m going to bring some goodies to BBQ for my buddy’s dad, who has been placed on hospice care. Terry was my dad’s friend. A car and motorcycle guy.
Prior, I saw Terry at least once a month because he lives near a friend I’ve known almost 40 years.
I’m friends with Terry’s son, whom is Larry Dixon’s half-brother. Steve wouldn’t call me because it’s a difficult time for him, I suppose. And I don’t blame him.
I’m going to bring some yummy calories for people to consume. Good food makes people feel good. I’m going to add a side note in my memory bank for this specific weekend.
I hope tomorrow is a good day. I look forward to being there.
Cancer sucks.

I wish you and your friend a good day. And you are so right --- cancer sucks.

Yep, I truly hate cancer , all the males in my family, from both sides, cancer took them, it took my dad in 1999( 18 I was)
Cancer sucks ass.
I watched my dad deteriorate and die.
I’m gonna be there for my buddy tomorrow. I’m going to feed people and I’m going to have a good time. I talked with Terry throughout this whole deal. He had a stroke first and I encouraged him to keep going. He improved that same year and he laughed that he learned that he was inoperable.
I’m just going to be there and have a good time.

We've all had family and friends that cancer took. It's a bitch that should be eradicated.
Have a good day today.

All too many family and friends taken by cancer.

Cancer took one of my best friends in 2012, it was a tough time for me, I was going through a divorce, my house was getting foreclosed on, I lost my Truck too. I couldn't go see him in the last couple of months of his struggle, it hurt too much and I wasn't strong enough to do it. I go to his grave every Christmas morning when the sun is rising, no matter the weather. Miss him..family and friends, don't take them for granted, that's what life is all about.

I had a pretty good time today. I met a lot of Terry’s family.
Terry’s brother was Motorsport Technology Engineer for GM and was a friend of Dale Earnhardt’s. I had some good conversation with him. Lots of really cool stories.
Some nice cars came by...
‘27 phonebooth Ford, real steel ‘32 Ford roadster, black ‘59 Elco.
My buddy Steve’s 10 second Vega bracket car was there, too.
I didn’t need to bring food but I brought chicken drumsticks that I marinated last night. There was fajitas, carne asada and chicken tacos, chicken, steak, brats, salad, corn on the cob, etc.
Pretty awesome turnout.
We got Terry into all of the cars and took pics with his family and friends.
I’m going to get over there real soon, maybe in a few days.
Steve asked me to come out with him when he runs the Vega next time. He wants to update the brakes on the Vega and I’m going to bend and flare the hard lines for him if he wants me too.
Prolly going to put a motor in the Vega and get it into the 9’s.
Another guy was there with a 590”, 7 second (all motor) Ford car (‘70 Torino)

Funny story between Steve and Scott.
Scott owns the 7 second Ford, Steve is Terry’s son and the brother of NHRA Larry Dixon.
Scott asked Steve if he wanted to drive the Torino in the first round at a local meet.
Steve ran the fastest pass the car ever had on his first attempt. Scott kept him in the car for the rest of the event but they got beat in the final by 1/4 fender from a guy with an extremely fast El Camino.

I was a mechanic until 2000.
I just do it on the side now as a hobby.

I like seeing pics of your work. Its an art, mechanics and bodywork.

that reminds me,,,you do any more work to that smoke show truck you have?

I’m taking the bed off of the truck in two weeks and taking it to Paul to be bodyworked and painted. I hoping to finish the truck by the end of the year.

According to a friend who is a MD it's easier to get addicts off drugs than smokers to quit. It's tough to quit believe me.
I tried for years, unsuccessfully, to quit. It wasn't until my daughter said she was pregnant and wouldn't bring a baby into a smokers house that I got serious. I quit cold turkey 4 hours later.
I'm now at a point in my life where that bastard cancer of various types is taking friends and acquaintance's at a ever increasing rate. Bastard

For everyone posting about how bad cancer is and what it does to a person, stripping many lives early and creating havoc in families who can't afford insurance, dig in your pockets. Dig deep in your pockets, and send a donation to the American Cancer Society. It is one thing to offer prayers and thoughts but dollars are what will win the battle. I know many don't think a few dollars will help but those few dollars would do so much.

I know a fellow who is in cancer research. He says they are close. His analogy is it's like a 10,000 piece jig saw puzzle and they're looking for the last piece too complete.
