I REALLY hope they don't bring this POS to Nationwide. I HATE the COT.

Instead of increasing competition, it's just made KYle Busch, Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards that much more dominant. They've won, what, 2/3 of the races in the COT?

I guess this is the new NASCAR. No more first time winners. No more photofinishes.

Instead, we've got IROC cars. NASCAR needs to re-evaluate this thing. They're gonna kill NASCAR just like the Dallarra killed IndyCar.

I hate to admit it when I agree with you. I like how well Kyle has done this year but the COT has made for some really stale competition.

Man anyone who thought the action was stale today had to be watching something other than what I watched. Looked to me like some pretty good racing.:beerbang:

Yeah well I believe that as the teams get more time in the cars things will start to get better. There is a learning curve and its steeper for some teams more so than others.

NOBODY likes the COT. Especially the drivers. NASCAR stepped on their own...................elbows when they ok'd this pile of crap. EXTREME high center of gravity, tight in, loose off tendencies, what a pile of junk. Caused NASCAR to implement a restrictor plate rule so that the "lower" series cars do not run faster lap times than their elite Cup series cars.
As far as safety goes, I have to say that I agree that huge advancements have been made with the COT design. Many terrible wrecks this year involving the COT have resulted in little or no driver injuries. However, there must be a middle ground somewhere where they can make adjustments to the COT chassis design to where it can be faster than the Nationwide cars, to where it can handle and be more driver friendly, yet still retain the amazing safety features that have kept drivers unharmed in this years most horrific wrecks.

Yea today was good but they are few and far between this year. It has not leveled the playing field like the car was supposed to do. Then again, maybe there aren't as many good drivers in nascar as we would like to believe. The car has defiantly shown us who has the money and recourses and who does not. There has always been the haves and have nots in nascar but lately there seems to be only a few haves that are winning all the time. Sounds familiar, doesn't it.

It sounds like open wheel racing. Pretty soon, "The Big Three" reference is gonna come to NASCAR.

This COT is inane. The racing's pathetic. The tire problems week in and week out is ridiculous.

The drivers hate it, the teams hate it, the fans hate it and the sponsors hate it.

Something's gotta give.

I thought the racing was great, but the tire problems and all the cautions were ridiculous.

There have only been a few good races this year with this junk car of theirs.

If NASCAR said today the teams would have to race factory cars, the best teams (Hendrick, Roush, and Gibbs) would still be the best teams and win most of the races. They have the best people working for them, therefore they will get the best results most times.

NASCAR needs to let the teams have more adjustability with these cars. When they first raced this car, they were too tight. Teams have worked on tricks to loosen them up. Now, they are too loose. There's no way to make it balanced between the two. If NASCAR will allow them these adjustments, the racing will be better. If not, it will be more of the same.

I can't find it now but read somewhere the BUSCH series COT won't be used until 2010, a year later than planned.

Is it me or do some of these youngsters need to read their history books? Back in the day, as Lil'E likes to say, you had a handful of drivers that dominated every track and their leads were measured in laps not seconds.

I think they look pretty cool, is Dodge the only one going with the pony car or is that Chevy a Camaro? They almost look like late models with those rear spoilers.

I guess I don’t get it. Whats with making the car less aerodynamic? And why does nascar have such a hard on for the splitter? Why don't they just tweek the old car to make it safer instead of these goofy looking boxes on wheels?

at least dodge nose looks different than the others, not very aero but different. Ford, chevy and toyo are the same except different stickers

I read that Chevy has yet to have their nose approved, perhaps it will be a camaro.

I dont think that its a pile of junk Bob, but they do need to do some tweeking. This has been the first full season dont forget and I look forward to Nascar making some changes to the car. I 'm quite sure they are getting plenty of feedback from teams and compiling their own data to formulate the necessary changes.
I believe that the safety enhancements are reason enough to embrace the new car and that belief was reinforced when I was watching this clip....

Micheal Waltrips crash at Bristol proved the old car was pretty durable too.

Unlike in the past where they made a slight change here or there like spoiler heigth, width, or angle. That strip across the roof and wicker bills worked well, didn't they? :sarcasm:

They drew up a car on paper and when it was built found it had problems but said "deal with it". Until they can find a way to get balance in this car and make it turn racing is going to be mediocre at best. Yes, some teams are further down the road but look who they are the big, no, mega buck teams.

I don't blame Goodyear for the tire problems either. I feel it's a impossible situation. We've got a car weighing almost twice as much, with a much higher center of gravity and on some tracks going almost as fast as Indy cars.

The COT should have been built in stages starting with a bigger greenhouse for driver safety. The splitter and wing, puleeeze get rid of them.

SST55, you make some good points, but this car is just like any other as far as racing goes. Yes, the mega teams have the advantage, but hell, they have always had the advantage. As an old modified driver, you've got to know that many stock car racing fans have never thought those cars were stock cars, but that's what they are classified. Any more when it comes to stock car racing, the winner in that category is many of those European races where the cars actually look like the car bought off the show room floor. As far as the wing and splitter go, maybe that is what was needed to compensate for the larger greenhouse. I don't know, but quite frankly, I don't care. I'm a race fan first and stock car racing is what I prefer, but it's not the only type of racing I like. Cars are going to change and that's just technology. I've said this time and time again, if this sport is going to get back to what we old timers loved, the money is going to have to leave as well as the sponsors. But then we might not have big time racing anymore either. But that would be okay with me as I prefer the local racing, and BTW SST55, our featured cars are modifieds and I love them. :) But a stock car with nerf bars? ;)

I was at that race and you could hear a pin drop. Everyone thought the worst.
