EMPORIA, Va. - Carl Long lost his only car, but will have a ride after all in the NASCAR Nextel Cup race in Las Vegas on March 7.
Long, one of several non-regulars who filled out the 43-car field in last Sunday's race in Rockingham, N.C., went out in a spectacular barrel-rolling crash that destroyed car. He finished 38th.

But Busch Series regular Hermie Sadler, also an occasional Cup driver, has solved Long's ride problem, at least short term. It was announced Wednesday that Long will drive the SCORE Motorsports Pontiac in Las Vegas, and possibly the next week at Atlanta.

"Carl and I talked last Friday at Rockingham, and it seemed like a win-win situation for both of us," said Sadler, SCORE Motorsports co-owner with former NBA player Bryant Stith. "We are looking to have a presence in the Nextel Cup series, and this opportunity allows us to do that while allowing me to focus my attention to the performance of our Busch series team.

"It also gives Carl the opportunity to race while he continues to pursue some other opportunities."

I say congratulations to Carl Long and kudos to Hermie Sadler for helping Carl out after he destroyed the only car he owned. :bounce: :bounce:

Carl is going to be busy starting very soon...

He's the car (I guess that should be truck) chief on David Starr's #75 truck...

Cheers to Hermie Sadler for helping Carl out. It does sound like a win win for the two of them.
If anyone would like to make a small donation to Carl to help him get another car, check out his site. Carl Long Racing

Thats a very cool deal...felt bad for him after that bad wreck...:(

Carl Long shows up at a handful of races every year, and might make one or two of them. He's in his own car, which he does most of the work on. No sponsor to speak of, using his own money. If there is another driver out there who wants to be a racer as bad as this guy does I don't know who it would be.

That's true. not like Rutman who seems to be a world class jerk.

 Now here's some real fans.........

NASCAR fans have nearly inundated Carl Long with checks for $25 or $50 to help him rebuild his race car from the remains of Sunday's crash as he tries to continue one of stock-car racing's most improbable quests. Long, is trying again to put his racing life back together after the off-season sponsorship collapse of the Travis Carter operation.
The fans have been going to Carl's web site and sending in money, close to $4,000 now.
Now that's some real fans for ya!
