Kansas Cup race, off track drama.. it seems i have a magnet for odd , strange, even hilarious crap happening in my racing career.. After 8 years of not being able to run cup, giving jr , smoke , gordon & the other Carl a head start on retirement, i must make the best out of the next 8 years b4 i get retired!!
I pomoted here on FB we needed 25k sponsorship to get to track and give the whole car .. " a deal" . Our Partner ,
Derek White got 2 canadian businesses, DAC Jets International and Poker Palace to chip in . Then Travis Lippert, a Nascar Fan and business owner, saw the chance to promote to help me and promote his product this first time back.
Veedverks took the primary location on the hood. This conversation took place earlier this week.
With all the scrambling we were doing to complete this car and excitement being back, i rushed thru alot to get here. Nascar has us submit the paint scheme and new sponsors before showing up at track. We finalized the sponsorship Wednesday afternoon. TDS did the wrap wed morning and rushed the decals to print wed night . Nascar could not find info on veeoverks as we submitted.. i told them it was a vape company from Denver. The spelling submitted was wrong as the D on their logo looked like an O. I was told this is a hemp based product legal in all states containing no chemicals that made people High. So i submitted to nascar. With short notice nascar looked at it, responded there was no info on the company. I responded they made vapes, it was approved.
We worked all night and departed 6am thursday, headed to kansas. I could not decal the hood as it was open and car being worked on, so i installed at track. When Nascar checked with me this am , the proper spelling of veedverks went into the system. Shortly after it was discovered this company has products that do not meet standards Nascar has established for teams. We removed logo from hood and explored options to promote something else ot theirs.. Nothing... The PR person , Emalee Hyde , was pumped up to activate and promote. The dissapointment from them is understandable .
I am the one who did not take the time to research while misspelling the company name to NASCAR. I am not savey in knowing difference in chemicals in hemp vs pot or cornbread for that matter. I am just excited to be able to participate on the cup side again. We hope to be able to get other drivers and sponsors to join us in future races.
We are meeting with Travis and Emalee in the am. I will offer a settlement for not promoting them on the car. The media has blown this up, veedverk has shown the power Nascar still has as great way to advertise companies and products. I personally do not use vape , or cannabinoid products , but many people do, and thats their choice. My job is to advertise, oh and go fast. Nascar does not allow this on our cars, we have a protocall to follow. We messed it up by misspelling a name and no research. The excitement of people participating and sponsoring us gives me hope we can do more.
The hood may remain blank if an alternative is not agreed on soon. But make no bones about it. We know I am not here to win race, we came here to develope our car and make our team stronger. This could be a 400 mile test session for MBM. Sorry to make my return so difficult for nascar, our sponsors and my crew. By default I am able to show the advertising power nascar has in its teams, even a small one like ours.
