LINCOLNTON, NC – The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series is set for another big weekend June 13 & 14, as the nine year old racing tour will invade Lavonia Speedway on Friday night and Tri-County Racetrack on Saturday night.
“We are very excited to make the trip to Lavonia and Tri-County this weekend,” said Carolina Clash President Larry Lee. “Both tracks have a strong group of local drivers and it will be interesting to see how our ‘Carolina Bad Boys’ handle them on their home turf.”
One driver in particular that is looking forward to the trip is Jonathan Davenport. Davenport is originally from Blairsville, GA but now resides in Shelby, NC. The popular driver know as ‘Superman’ has already picked up a special event win at each track this year and has numerous laps around Tri-County.
“I love going home to race,” said Davenport, whose Blairsville, GA home is less than 15 miles from Tri-County. “All my friends, fans and family get a chance to come watch us race and that means a whole lot, plus I love the race track,” said the driver of the Beaver Bail Bonds/Ride Honda.com/PBM Performance Parts/Barry Wright entry.
This will be the first time since 2005 that the ‘Blue Collar Tour’ has visited Lavonia Speedway where Rambo Franklin captured the win.
Franklin will lead the ‘Carolina Bad Boys’ into the weekend with the series points lead. He also tops the 2008 season with three victories.
Both 40 lap events will pay the winners. $4,000.
