I know it's early in the season but has anyone noticed his top 15 finishes? 10th at Daytona and 14th at Pheonix? With him that seems pretty good. What are your thoughts?

I've always liked him. I believe they switched to either Hendrick or EGR engines this year. I'd look for a nice overall improvement this year.

I'd rule out Daytona. 50% of this board would have a decent chance of being in the top 15 there. We'll see where he is by May.

He's had good results so far, and he was fast most of Speedweeks too. This weekend's cookie-cutter will be a good indication of how much the RCR/ECR alliance is really helping. I'd jump all over the Fears The Mears campaign.

He's always done decent in so so equipment. I think it brings out the most potential in him.

When he was with Hendrick he could barely compete.

With that said, he's always started out the year good then falls apart mainly due to the poor equipment they give him.

Is there any possibility within a couple years he could get to better eqipment?

Mears is a good but not great driver that got unfairly qweafed on at both Hendrick and RCR. He got one year with each team, improved greatly during the second half of the year, then got dumped. His one year with Childress he finished ahead of both harvick and burton in points, but jack Daniels left and basically ruined his career. He seems to be somewhat competitive at Germain racing though, which is good to see.

His uncle was pretty good.

I like Casey Mears. I've always thought he would do well in good equipment. Like DaBiff said, he looked good in his solo year at RCR. Then Jack Daniels left and Childress booted him out the door with a bus ticket to Germain Racing.

probably a guy that would be better running the nationwide or truck series. isn't it better to be regan smith than a guy running in the cup series in a car that can't win??

He had some decent runs last year too. Better equipment under the hood with the RCR power this year. Should be top 20 contender most races this year.

These guys running 10th to 14th are just clogging up the track . They are ruining racing for me . If they can't run top five , they should race in Nationwide or trucks . What ever happened to start and parks ? Used to love them. :(

I do know that he has a one of the most devoted sponsors in Nascar. Can he win? It's an uphill battle but I wouldn't mind seeing him take one home.

Who would run 10 to 14th then? I suppose we could just cut it down to 5 total cars with competition cautions every 8 laps. 10 races, straight points and done.
I'm submitting this to nascar via fan council.

Damn, don't get kicked out in your first week. :D

Watch for good things out of Germain racing. The alliance with RCR is going to help a ton. They also have Cal Wells in their shop consulting them on how to take it to the next level. It wouldn't surprise me if they follow the same graph as Furniture Row Racing. There are a ton of similarities to both organizations (including Cal). There's a commitment to improve. Plus, Bob Germain is awesome. He'll sit in his motor coach and play guitar and sing for you for as long as you'll let him. Always has good wine, too. He's a lot of fun in an otherwise "stiff" owners pool.

Hopefully he's able to keep it up! He's 3rd on my list of favorite active drivers, behind Gordon and Jamie Mac, mainly because of his Hendrick run.
