it's in jayski.com.

That would be real cool! i think Cassey has improved weekly through out the year.

Go Cassey!

Has anyone heard if the sponsor is secure on that team for next year?

pluh we discussed this earlier in another thread im not to happy

Why are they trying to get all these inexperienced guys in Winston Cup? Don't they have enough "young guns"?

I think you hit on something there coonhound...these young guns are drawing tons of attention to the sport.

Maybe thats what the sponsors want younger MTV crowd connection. hhhhhmmmmmm.

if this tells you anything he is only one position higher than kerry earnhardt and 2nd to last with drivers who have driven all 26 races

That younger MTV crowd has more years (on average) of spending left than us older VH1 crowd. And as expensive as it is in this (and all motorsports) that's what it takes.......dollars, dollars and more dollars. Sad but true:(

I know I don't work for free and I don't put money on things I don't think are worth it or won't give me a return on my buck. All those "young guns" will grow up.........some will be great, some will be mediocre and some will fall by the wayside. Just like 20 or 30 years ago.:)

Sometimes rookies can be a blessing to our sport. They get great equipment and their teams are pumped by their bright new star's potential, and they succeed. Look at some of the rookies we've had the past couple years and the equipment and the backing they've had behind them. It's amazing.

But at the same time these rookie superstars are being born, some do enter the sport too early in teams that might not be as strong, and end up falling to the wayside and out of our sport. Jason Leffler, Andy Houston, Jeff Fuller, Mike Bliss, and several others ended up damaging their careers by trying to move up to early and not having the same backing that their other rookie competitors like Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Matt Kenseth, and now Jimmie Johnson an Ryan Newman have.

Now it looks like we are going to have another interesting line-up of rookie drivers next year like Greg Biffle in a Roush car, Casey Mears with Hendrick (?), Jack Sprague with help from Hendrick, and Jamie McMurray with Chip Gannassi. These are rides that veterans would have killed (not literally) for to have a chance in, but they are going to the rookies in the hope of finding bright new stars. As rookies, they have to try and make their move to Cup, but they take the risk of trying to move up too quickly and irreversibly affecting their reputation and racing careers.

I don't know Mear's record, or whether there are any other young drivers available for the ride that would be better. Hendrick seems like he's trying to re-build this team and maybe he sees something in Mears like he saw in JG years ago.

The past has dictated that the 25 car is not something Hendrick has put a lot of effort into, and from the outside it looks as though he has all but ignored the 5 car as well. His multi-car team has essentially been reduced to a one car team.... the 24. Let's hope that if Mears does get the ride, his vision has been restored.

I don't believe that the 25 team has been ignored by Hendrick's. The 25 was the car Tim Richmond drove which was quit successful.

terry admitted last year that his team had gone another direction than the 24 team with the chassic.
Terry is also getting up there in age & might be backing down now.

I think the deal with Cassey is for 2004 also, along with Rick in the 5 car in 2004.

The 25 needs to start over with a rookie driver. I think Mears would be great choice after another year in Busch, which I read somewhere, is supposed to happen.

In 3 or 4 years there could possibly be a Mears, Andretti, Fittipaldi, and Foyt (Larry) in Winston Cup.

I don't think Mears would be a great choice for the 25 car. I think Hendricks should put a veteran like Schrader back in the 25. If I'm correct that was the only car Schrader won in.

Yeah, and the way that #25 has been running, they should go home. They just haven't been able to put the right driver - crewchief combination in that team. Schrader actually already drove for that team, if you remember, I'm not sure he'd want to go back there now. Maybe a rookie driver is what that team needs to pump that team up again, but if this deal doesn't work out, I doubt UAW will be returning.
