Chad got the 5K fine

$5,000 only?? but throwing a bird or saying other cuss words or spelling them weren't fined??
Not saying Nascar was wrong for the fine, but it should be applied equally in a "family" sport.

Come on, let's be serious here.

It's one thing if he was swearing on the radio, but he swore in an interview. Helton did not need "dinner money".

No disagreement here from the Kat. He said it and got fined!! end of story.

I'll be serious. The fine was necessary, no one should say bad words on interviews, no matter if its Rusty, Dale Jr. or Chad knaus.

only 5k?? i would think it would be more.. i wonder if it owuld be more had it been on NBC.. i'm just wondering...

I wonder what ever Happened to the "family" part of Nascar, I didnt know that the F word and others was a part of it...

The fine goes to the "Daddy needs a new pair of ****** shoes" fund. God knows my man Smoke has donated enough to that.
He he he...

Just put the damned interviews on a three second delay. The man was excited.......give him a break. On the Jr thing, he should have been fined.......seems he did it on purpose almost as an after thought. The delay would solve the problem.:(

And I'm a Jr fan.........pretty darn proud of it too.:)

mnai told my dad and dang he was mad, he said 5,000 wasnt enough, and i agree, he knew what he was sayin it wasnt a spur of the moment excitement like the mia hamm controversy

I think the fine was a notice to everyone that they need to think about what they are saying to the public so the amount wasn't important. It wasn't levied to head off some sort or rules infraction, it was only because it was undesirable.

Stock car racing is NOT a gentleman's sport. But......

nascar pulls the strings. It's their game. If they say something is detrimental to the sport what they are really saying is that it is detrimental to nascar racing which is becoming less like stock car racing by the week.

Funny that folks would have a problem with swear words on tv but not on the net in a racing forum where children are also present.

(taps microphone.....testing one two.....is this thing on?)

IT AIN'T NASCAR'S RULE PEOPLE. IT'S THE FCC!!!!!!

(gee, I guess it IS on)

There are guidelines as to what is allowable on television. That don't fall under it. The FCC could and likely will fine NASCAR for the slip up. NASCAR didn't commit the crime, so they are getting the $ from the guilty party.

I think George Carlin has the actual list of the words that can't be said on TV.Seven if I remember right.:D

I don't have a problem with swears. But I can't follow everyone around the boards and tell them that their language is inappropriate, I don't have swear filters in place because I would hope that people can monitor themselves. There are a few signatures and posts that I feel are in bad taste. This is a community that can police itself, not a dictatorship. If we were to start telling people what words can and cannot be used there would be no one here and we would be labled as censor happy.

As TWF said, it isn't NASCAR's rule, it's the FCC's. If a disc jokey swears on the radio, the FCC fines the company that owns the radio station. Then the radio station takes the fine out of the disc jokey's paycheck. Ask Howard Stern.

I think that's hilarious. I hope they do win the championship to see if they'll make him say it again. Hehe.

If I got fined for every time I used the F-bomb, I'd be in bigger debt than Kmart.
