Chad Knaus unfazed by recent struggles

chad finally got married. It seems like the 48 hasn't been the same since. I wonder if he is spending more time away from the garage because of this and its having an impact.

Could also be his new barber :( . I'm wondering if there have been many personnel changes on the team this year .And I certainly don't think Chad is benefitting from his teammates' input as he has in the past. That said , it may just be that the competition has improved.

I think it's really nothing more than a bad summer slump. The 48's performance does tend to dip during the summer months - this year is just exceptionally bad.

It's just not the 48.

HMS in general has been on a downward trend. After, the race at Pocono I (Spring) things really started to show itself. Yes, he has two wins by the way. We will see come Chicagoland.

Why are people mentioning Chicago? What's so special there?

They had their day. Product of the worst championship system in NASCAR.

I agree. The Chase was particularly tailored to the #48 team in the past. Get the most from your best tracks idea. Their first worst chase was the year Brad won it and now the new chase doesn't favor their style.

I wouldn't be down on the 48 team just yet. Chad and JJ have the 48 safely in the chase. In the meantime he has a chance to work on different ideas without endangering anything. If at the end of the chase and nothing has changed I'd start being worried about next year. Never count out Rick or Chad.

This crew chef and driver combo would not be struggling if NASCAR did not change the rules to stop the driver from dominating. If the other 42 drivers keep on overdriving there cars then its there own fault. Fix the bad guys not the good guys. I think this was the most unjust thing in sports in a long time.

It does because Homestead is the only track that matters and JJ is awful at Homestead.

The new Chase doesn't favor anyone's style, or talent, or strategy,. Just the size of their horseshoe.

Now that Chris Buescher has almost punched his lottery ticket to the chase (Nothing against Chris) how could how could anyone disagree with your horseshoe analogy?

He still has 2 wins. lol

Talk to me when they finish a season with 0 wins.

Well, 2 wins at this point in the season is kind of unusual for the 48 team. I mean, they usually rack up at least 4 wins by now and working on a 5th.

Agree with this 100%, and the sad thing is that they expanded to all three top series.

His nephew Austin Green (son of David) put on a clinic in his Legends car last night at my local track. Supposedly Knaus works on the car (it is #48 btw). The local kid who usually wins got second and never had a chance.

So if this Cup thing doesn't work out, Chad always has a Legends gig to fall back on. Good to have a safety net. :D

Werkin' on his future role of Director of Driver Development for Hendrick.

Since Chads got that hot ex Miss Sprint Cup wife of his, he's probably thinking with the wrong head !
