Brian France has now come out and said that changes could be ahead for NASCAR. The Chase was one place where changes could come, but didn't say what or when. He just talked about the various problems that NASCAR is having from low attendance and TV ratings, to what to do about the fan base getting older. Personally I don't think that Brian is doing NASCAR any good but I'm sure he isn't making all the decisions by himself. He does stress that things have to be done to satisfy not only the fans, but those who are making the big payments to NASCAR and the teams. He also said that changes could be coming in the Nationwide series dealing with the overwhelming number of Cup drivers. He even said that the Cup drivers agree that changes should be made to help the younger drivers make a name for themselves. I wish that Brian would step down from the top leadership post and allow someone else to take the reins to see if they can turn this sport around into the right direction. But as long as the sponsors have as much power as they do, it will only get worse. NASCAR and the teams are all slaves to the big money that keeps the sport going.

people in power generally don't relinquish their power, it has to be taken from them. so who encouages brian to step down? <g>

The fans. After all, doesn't Brian always say what the fans want is important to him?

NOTE TO Brian: Enough with the "Racertainment" already! Racing is the entertainment! It doesn't have to be choreographed or manipulated. Sometimes it's really good and sometimes no so much. But, it's always racing! That's enough for race fans.

Good post sums it up perfectly, we all complain about it, but bottom line it is the racing we want not all that "Racertainement"!!:D
