Changes to the Sprint Cup schedule

So it is never to early to start discussing possible changes to the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule. I wrote up a nice article discussing one major change NASCAR could do to the schedule.

Many of you will call me a whack job for what I say in the article, but if you think about it, it makes sense.

Great article and something that I've been wanting to see for years. But here's something that would be more controversial and that would be cut the number of races in half, giving a two week breat between races instead of the usual one. I think that would generate more hype for each race, but it sure would be less money for everyone except the fans, so this wouldn't even be a thought to those down in Daytona. Another thought that has been bandied about is to make the circuit two different divisions with the champion being crowned in the final race, or if they want to keep the current "chase", the last ten races. I know many of us have made comparisons to this sport to other ball and stick sports, but in those sports, there are only two teams playing at the same time against each other, whereas in motorsports, there are several teams going up against each other. But you hit the nail squarely on the head, it's all about the money.

I think NASCAR needs a dirt track race. ARCA does it - surely so can NASCAR.

The chase should consist of at least one short track, superspeedway, mile-long track, road course, cookie cutter, and a dirt track.

I would like to see the season end at Daytona myself.

COT on dirt, No dirt track in america can deal with ramifications of the sprint cup series, hell eldora is overflowed capacity when prelude is there and another good one is Irwindale, can Irwindale hold over 100,000 fans and the sprint cup series and if I'm not mistaken every time I see a california race I see no empty seats.

You must not be seeing the same California races as we are

:XXROFL: They have thousands of empty seats. Tens of thousands of empty seats. Believe it or not, short tracks CAN host a lot of fans. Richmond = 120,000 and they sell out every time. Bristol = 160,000 fans and they sell out.
