Okay, I gotta be honest, I can't really think of any bonehead. The whole race was pretty uneventful in terms of anyone making any stupid mistakes, but maybe I missed something.

Brad for not saving when Paul told him to. Paul for not telling him to after he saw the 11 and 48 pit late on the second to last run. They should have recognized their own strategy.

That'll work. I'll be honest, the majority of the race was pretty uneventful, IE boring.

The 2 team, and the 24 team.

2 for bad fuel strategy. They had a shot for winning three of the first five, and making chase matters more difficult for Hamlin and Johnson. Hindsight is 20/20 but I think Nascar throw less late rate debris cautions during the chase (to their credit their letting them race), you have to plan accordingly, somewhere around the 2/3rds mark, the cheap regular season cautions go away. They should have topped off like the the 11 and 48, they lost a top three at least, maybe the win.

24 bad adjustments and a pit road speeding penalty. They have been fast during the chase, but due to Chicago last night's so so performance was devastating blow to their title hopes.

24s CC Alan Gustafson- took out a left rear rubber, cars worse, took out a right rear rubber, cars even worse, pre set the tachs 2 clicks high got speeding road penalty went a lap down, put the rubbers back and 3 down on the track bar cars good and fastest on the track but too late, trapped a lap down.

I'm undecided --- either the 2 or the 24.

However, I may throw in Regan Smith in the 88 --- he said he may have pegged the engine on that pitstop resulting in a fried engine later. He had a fast car and was driving up to the front.

I still can't figure the #2 out. Clearly, running out lost them 40 seconds on the track. Someone said they failed to get all the fuel in, which is real hard to believe because the car sat there while they tried to get it started. That last stop killed them.

The 2 team for running out of fuel.

The 24 team for cutting it too close on pit road speed and getting a penalty. Also for missing the set up and killing whatever slim chance the 24 had of challenging for the Cup.

I think that's a driver thing, not a team thing. So, Jeff is your pick for bonehead of the race?

This time the pre race settings for the system was 2 clicks high according to the cc on the in car radio. He checked his charts after they found out he was borderline in every zone on every stop and was speeding in 3 sections when he was busted. Apparently 2 clicks high is a no no.

I'm sad to hear this. Now I can't razz Matt about his driver messing up. :(

Pretty easy call, Kez and crew for not calculating fuel consumption from the start.
