Anyone know why Charlotte Motor Speedway's Dirt Track doesn't get used that often? I'd love to go see a late model dirt race on the track, but the only thing they got scheduled in terms of races is two Sprint race and that's it.

Apparently that's all they're interested in holding. They used to have the Colossal, a big dirt late model race that drew most of the top drivers. Weather was somewhat of a problem and they kept moving the date. So they ended up dropping it.

There's been some talk from those in the area that if NASCAR adds another truck race on dirt that it may be at Charlotte.

They did, for a couple years, have both the Colossal and another late model race in the fall. Both have been dropped, and they now only have the spring Outlaw race and the finals. Not sure how much of it had to do with the departure of Roger Slack.

That's right. I forgot about the first one or two being in the fall. The track was really rough for those. They moved it to spring, had bad weather, had to run it on Sunday, and dropped it.

I have been to 3 or 4 dirt track races there and they have all been great. It is such a good track it is a shame that it is not used more often.

The track actually seems very truck friendly. That would be awesome! I was at the world finals in 2010.. Can't remember if they had big block modifieds that year but it was a great show. Track held up great.
