...especially if yer a Ford fan.

i think the #3 will be left along for awhile. A lot of teams have respect for that number, and know how the fans would react if anyone but jr. raced with it.

Though if I were Kerry and the Terry Bradshaw team worked out...

i think that if anyone but Jr drives it they will be hated. and i dont see Jr geting in to tell tell next year.

if it is on ANYTHING but a chevy the drive will rell be hated.

lol your right Gollum and rpmallen

Why? After all, it takes TWO 3s to make a 6! :p

I knew that was comming, let the chevy ford debate commence.:p

Good one TW:D

I always kinda hoped that if Dale Jr got married and had kids, his son would race the 3.

Isn't Kerry's team the 83?

Richard Childress said he didn't want to race that number anymore. No surprise for me. And I agree with whoever said that the number will probably remain unassigned for some time........that's fine too. But, I disagree with some who say if a team running any make other than a Chevy will be hated.

Hey, did anyone ask Teresa? Anymore, anything that has to do with DE, she seems to have exclusive rights. If you go to the track, you might look over your shoulder if you mention his name.

Seriously, I too doubt that anyone will use that number for a long time. The top brass at NASCAR loved DE and if someone wants to use that number, they will probably try to talk them out of it for some time. Just a hunch.

Teresa doesn't own that number. NASCAR does.....they lease it to team owners. If Teresa should ask for it, I'm sure she could get it.........my bet is she won't.

I didn't say she owned it, but I'd bet she thinks she has some kind of rights to it. Also, I would bet that she will be asked if they do decide to hand it out. Of course, we may never know. ;)

It would take some pretty big balls for someone to ask for it now. I get the feeling it will be left alone for a while.

I'd bet you're wrong.:D

DEW, there are two things that are a fact. Dale Earnhardt was great and NASCAR favored him. They will do anything they can for Teresa and that's why I believe they would consult her before they handed out the number. If she said that she was still uncomfortable with it, I honestly believe they would refrain from giving it out. Now about that bet...:D

No speculation there my man. I've got a friend who worked the circuit for 17 years, mostly as a scorer. However, he worked for Hendrick/Gordon and has three of the four championship rings. He worked a few years for NASCAR and has a lot of stories. Most of the stories are confirmation of a lot of rumors. Not just about DE, but about the sport itself. Back when Kevin Triplett was operations director, Earnhardt was given a pass in many situations where other drivers were either penalized or forced to make changes. Triplett didn't keep it a secret that Earnhardt was his favorite. There have been many cautions thrown just for DE's sake. Earnhardt favored...yep, but that's history now. Now, what's the bet on? I forgot. :D

She doesn't own the number three, but she owns the leaning three .

Meaning, this is hers.....

This isn't.......3

Prefect fergy...............thanks.:beerchug:

Question. How does she own the 3 leaning or any other. Wasn't it assinged to RCR and not DEI?

If................DEI (Teresa Earnhardt) owns the leaning 3, it is only the likeness and color combination but nothing else. The numeral 3 could be used by any other owner in any configuration they choose, provided it does not duplicate the white colored, leaning three outlined in red, resting in a black circle.
As far as the number three being issued by NASCAR, knowing how superstitious racers are, some might pick it up thinking it will bring them a few wins, but doubtful it will linger on the sidelines for long.

The possibility exists DEI might pick it up as a team number in an effort to keep it "in the family". Since all any of us are doing is speculating, all we can do is wait. But if I were a betting man, my bet would go with DEW, and the number will be issued quickly. :)

I would like to see DEI use it on anything but a black car for the minimum number of races needed per year in order to keep it in the family.

You guys still worried about that 3?Don't worry if Nascar wanted to they could retire it,But they want to see if they can make any more money off it.;)

Ain't that the truth

Dale Earnhardt was who made the #3 car famous. I doubt that any driver or owner in the near future would dishonor his memory and am also surprised that Richard gave up his right to keep that #.

Someone needs to EARN the right to drive the 3 car.

Richard shows his true colors,I am not surprised Kat.Dale made that arse hole who he was.;)

No argument from me PB. AND Childress thinks he can walk on water.

Don't get me wrong, I like JR and believe he has a good future in WC, but not gonna rival his dad's history.

Richard Childress said he wasn't going to race the number anymore. Why would he keep it? NASCAR said they weren't going to retire the number. Why wouldn't they make it available? This is a silly argument.

I won't say anything more on this but the why is so very obvious DEW. I can guarentee you that if Richard Petty ever dies, this same argument/debate/talk will continue with the #43 even though he hasn't driven that car for years.

But of course it would be, but that's what we're here for. Much of the debates on these boards are silly. For the most part, most of us don't know a hill of beans about what we are talking about, but still we throw out our opinions. Even my friends on the "inside" do this and they aren't always right. :) It's all speculation and it's fun to throw around.
