Word has it that Todd Berrier has been signed as the new Crew Chief for Kevin Harvick, and Gil Martin was moved up to Team Manager...
Totally NASCAR has confirmed this.. more on the story tomorrow!!

Man they either need to stick with one person for the whole year, or get someone new.

isn't that what they are doing?....they aren't sticking with someone for a year, so they are getting someone new......or am I just reading this wrong?

Richard Childress is in what is commonly referred to as the "desperation" mode. His Cup teams aren't competitive, and until they are on a consistent basis, he's going to keep making changes. I personally think he should stick with what he has for a while, and give it a chance to mesh. With patience, that strategy can pay off. Just look at Joe Nemechek.

Hooty what I meant was basically what stridsberry said, :) I meant get a whole new crew chief all together.

RCR has the equipment, but doesn't have the "mesh" behind it...
You all heard Richard say it himself about Harvick.. "He can be competitive week in and week out, all we need is the team behind him."
Hope this works out for the better!! Harvick deserves it!

I think its a great idea. Remember, Berrier was the crew chief for Harvick in the busch series in 2001. They have a real good relationship. I hope it turns out well.

That is a pretty good idea on Childress's part. He should have put Todd Berrier back with Harvick a long time ago. They already have good chemistry together, or atleast I would hope so after winning the Busch title back in 2001.

okie dokie... :D

just read on jayski that gil martin has been pushing for this for awhile....starting to wonder if harvick is that difficult to work with...he pretty much alienated himself from the 1st goodwrench team and now this....or could just be that ole chemistry thing....

Ya know Harvick and Berrier have the chemisty... just look at the Busch series stats! Bunch of poles, wins, and a championship!

When you consider that all three of RCR's drivers put together dont equal one Matt Kenseth....you begin to see the problem.I know a lot of people seem to think Harvick is the next big thing------but I dont buy it.And Green and Gordon may be more of a fit with someone else.

Keep everything as it was and get three more divers!

Three cars:Three Bodines!Think about it!

So.. your saying Harvick doesn't have what it takes to run in NASCAR's top series? Name me another drive who can run both the Full Cup season and the full Busch season in the same year... and come out with a top10 in cup points and a Busch Championship? Not one driver comes to my mind...

Harvick may have the right stuff-----just not so sure it is with Childress.None of those three drivers just seem to 'mesh' in my opinion with RCR.Granted Kevin has had his success to this point with Childress----but if He ever wants to be mentioned in the same breath with Newman,Busch or Johnson he better get off that sinking ship. :)

Bull crap...Harvick has whart it takes and so does Childress.....Harvick and Berrier have been doing well with the truck deal, which in turn will spill over to the WC. Harvick got off track last year trying to be some one he wasn't...meaning trying to be too much like Dale sr. I think Harvick will win a few races this year and get a top 12 or so in points....maybe even better. Harvick is a good driver...just needs that consistency and chemistry and eventually in the next few years he will win a championship. Childress is a good mentor for him, they talk to each other and keep the line of communication open. I see nothing but good things ahead for them. The other 2 guys aren't doing all that bad...if Gordon can keep his emotions in check he might win another race this year, he has showed promise. I don't particularly like the guy, but he has gotten better...matured some. I think Green will do well in another year, seems to take him awhile to get going.

Nothing new going on here. Witness the joining of the "greatest" crew chief with the the "greatest" driver ---- didn't work out because the communication wasn't there.

I have heard, but do not know it to be an absolute, that Harvick and Martin and even Childress wanted to make this move last year. The hold up was Mr. Green did not want to go along with the program. Folks are saying that this is the situation to which Jr. was referring with his "team player" comments at Daytona.

RCR, like many teams before and many teams in the future, is in a bit of slump. He stirred the pot last year, and gained a little for a time but this year is not maintaining that momentum. Standing outside the operation it is impossible to judge what chemistry is positive and what chemistry is negative among the teams the way they are aligned now. It may be that Richard has decided to pool his best talent with one team, get it on the right track, and then see what of that can be carried to the other crews. It is certainly worth a shot.

I think that going to three teams has just spread his resources too thin. Go back to two teams or even one and see what happens....

I hope this works out well for Kevin. He needs some breaks and a little luck.

Bang!....miss. Bang!...hit. :dual9mm: I think Richard may be shooting in the dark here & wonder if Hooty may be right? Wonder if it isn't the driver & not the crew?

Berrier may be the answer, but what they had in the Busch series doesn't mean it works in the Cup series.

It has worked for Matt & Robbie & Dale Jr. & Tony Sr., but I know it's been tried alot, just can't think of others that it hasn't worked for. :cuckoo:

I didn't know that Ray Evernham was Richard Petty's crew chief? Or Harry Hyde was Jeff Gordon's crew chief? Or Larry McReynolds was Dale Earnhardt's crew chief? Oh wait, Larry was Dale's chief for a cpl of years.
