It just came out 20 minutes or so, locally, that the Browns' current owner Randy Lerner is in negotiations to finalize the sale of the team to some near billionaire named Jimmy Haslem III.

I'm not sure how this will eventually affect the team's personel decisions and eventually their on-field performance. There are a few fans who are worried that he wants to buy the team and move it to Los Angeles. There is absolutely no way that anybody is moving this team. There are several cities who don't support their teams who do need to worry about their team moving to LA. Los Angeles is a huge TV and revenue market that currently has no NFL team. But, Cleveland Browns fans are some of the, if not the, most rabid and loyal fans in the country. The Browns have been horrible since they came back into the league in 1999 and they have still sold out every single game. The Cavs and Indians have come pretty close to winning championships and have had a lot more consistent success than the Browns and yet the Browns are so much more popular than either team that it isn't even close.

This Haslem guy owns a bunch of travel centers and truck stops across the country. He is reportedly worth about $800 million, so he's doing a little better than I am. The Browns are reportedly worth $977 million, so he won't be paying cash, apparently.

I wouldn't count on them not moving, look what happened not too long ago to the Colts in the middle of the night.
