Background. I live in a small town in New Zealand. House sections here are small, 1/4" acre like we have is considered large by modern standards. Anyway, being a small rural town, it's pretty normal still. Anyway, we have a small stream that cuts though our place. Only a few inches deep, unless it's raining heavy, when it could be a few feet.
This is what happens if you throw 1/2 a hotdog in.
It's not a record size one, but it's about 4ft long, and as thick as my leg. They usually migrate out to sea to breed and die before they get this big, but I guess the food scraps that we and the neighbours drop in has encouraged her (this size is always female) to hang around.
It's just cool that we have such a big (and predatory) fish in such a small backyard stream.
