I'd bet that too. Out on the street some of that coaches antics could be considered criminal.Don't follow B ball but I saw that video. No coach should have a job after doing something like that. I'm betting the AD is in hot water for letting it go on as long as it did.
That AD was on an Outside The Lines show yesterday. They kept showing the video clips and asking him how the guy still had a job. He kept saying that the 3 game without pay suspension and sensitivity training he got last December was appropriate for what he kept refering to as "a first offense". Other people on the show asked him how he could consider it a first offense when it had been going on for nearly two years according to the tapes and a former assistant AD who first reported this stuff last summer. He was fired for speaking up. The AD claimed that he wasn't fired, but that his contract simply wasn't renewed because he participated at a youth basketball camp after someone from the program told him they would appreciate it if he didn't do it. They asked the AD how he could justify firing, or "not renewing his contract" of, someone for doing a basketball camp and giving a guy who assaulted and abused players for over a year a slap on the wrist. He sat there kind of dumbstruck and finally said that the two issues weren't really related.Don't follow B ball but I saw that video. No coach should have a job after doing something like that. I'm betting the AD is in hot water for letting it go on as long as it did.
Some people are defending this guy.
I've heard excuses of he was just tough and you can't be a sissy in sports. Perhaps they should look up the difference between tough and tyrant.Yep, they've been on FOX News Channel all evening.
There is being tough and being a bully, which is exactly what this coach is. He apparently never got enough of that growing up so he just keeps it up to feed his ego. I don't understand how abusing players who have too much to lose to retaliate feeds his ego, but it seems obvious that it does.I've heard excuses of he was just tough and you can't be a sissy in sports. Reports say that he is under fire and even the University president is under scrutiny. People want to know what the president knew and when he knew it. The AD first said that the president saw the videos as part of the investigation that led to only his suspension. Now they say that the president just saw those videos and that was what made them fire him now.If you ask me the AD should be standing in the unemployment line with Rice for knowing about this as long as he did and doing essentially nothing about it...
He is now. Reports say that he just resigned and it also said that the university would have canned him if he hadn't quit. The report also says that it is "highly likely" that noone else is going to be canned. It would be a really good idea for the departing AD to take the blame for all of it and say that the president is 100% not at fault, if he ever hopes to work at another school in the future. If you ask me the AD should be standing in the unemployment line with Rice for knowing about this as long as he did and doing essentially nothing about it...
