Wake Forest, one of the smallest schools participating in NCAA 1A sports, won the ACC championship and will play another BCS selection in the Orange Bowl. How bout them Deacs. So you say, who the hell are the Deacs? Winston Salem is the home of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons who finished the regular season 10 - 2 with a shutout of Florida State, 30 to nothing. The Deacs beat Georgia Tech this afternoon in the ACC championship game 9 to 6. Both teams played great defence as you can see, not one TD was made by either team. Wake's kicker, Sam Swank was named MVP of the game. Sam was instrumental with many of the wins with his kicking and punting. Throughout the season, the Deacs have been the underdog in just about every game with the exception of the game against Duke, a perienial loser in football. Both teams had lost their top quarterbacks and we looking for a replacement. The game went down to the wire with the Deacs blocking a fieldgoal attempt by Duke to win the game. Who'd a thunk at that time that the Deacs would end up with the title? Few, and even fewer thought they would win again. I am sure they will be the underdogs in the Orange Bowl and that may be their biggest ally.

Now if the Sooners can just hang on to win over Nebraska...

Wake Forest is surely a "Cinderella Story". Glad to see them win the ACC. It would also be nice to see them upset Louisville in the Orange Bowl. It is a breath of fresh air to see their coach and players show their appreciation to all the fans of the team. "Humbleness" is a desirable thing that many people and teams do not have.

Kudos to the Demon Deacons.

I'm a carolina fan.....i dont like most of the other ACC teams...but Wake is different.....they are a small school that often struggles in the ACC....(as does carolina football) but its nice to see them win the title...they deserve it.
