Never really understood why he was made head coach for the Colts. He spent eight years as head coach here in WS with Wake Forest and had only one winning season and on bowl game. Since he left, the Demon Deacons have had 5 winning seasons with 5 bowl games and one ACC championship. Granted, Wake is a small expensive school and has a hard time getting the top prospects, but Jim Grobe has had the ability to make up a good team. Caldwell was just in the right place at the right time when Tony retired and was able to take a great team that had been playing together and continue on. But Caldwell obviously didn't see fit to have a good QB to back up one of the leagues best and when he went down, so did the team. You cannot put all the blame on losing one of the greats. Other coaches have recovered from the same thing in the past. He'll find a home soon in college if not in the pros.
