first off bill jr seems illiterate, couldnt say unprecedented then said ill just skip words i cant say, thought that was funny, overall thought it was a very good press conference, the little cell phone cars were cool, apparently the allstar race will be sponsored by nextel, and just read at jayski that at&t was looking to sponsor a car, possibly jeff burtons, but nascar turned it down because of the new contract, i can see cingular and alltel not renewing there contracts when there up because they will get the shaft
 
I didnt get to see the conference, but I know who will be sponsoring NASCAR for the next 10 years atleast.
 
something interesting here also, alltel just signed a deal with michigan to be the official wireless provider at the track, how is this gonna affect them? heres an excerpt from the press release

MIS And Alltel Team Up To Enhance Race Experience
ALLTEL and Michigan International Speedway have reached an agreement on a partnership that makes ALLTEL the Official Wireless Provider to MIS, officials at both companies announced today.

The partnership includes upgrades to the wireless network in the area as well as race updates sent as text messages to customers. Race fans will benefit from new digital site additions in the area that will improve overall network quality.

"ALLTEL’s improvements will offer customers improved call quality and coverage,” said Jay Ortman, ALLTEL’s vice president and general manager for the Lansing market. “Specifically, customers should see an increase in first-time call connects and experience fewer busy and dropped calls with improved call clarity and longer battery life.”
 
ward22, remember, Bill France has had extensive cancer treatments and possibly some other health issues in the last few years. Plus, his age.
