Turner Sports President David Levy said TNT will drop about five minutes of promotional time in Sunday's NASCAR Siemens 300 race to show more of the event.

From USATODAY.com

I like it because I want to watch the race and not commercials. Although, most of the NASCAR commercials are pretty funny.

5 minutes in 3 to 4 hours racing..........................I don't think it will be noticable.

The way they are cutting the time is they are running shorter versions of their own promotions....

Instead of seeing a 30 second spot for NIP/Tuck you will see the 15 second version or the 10 second version. Hardly anyone will notice the difference.

We might not notice the difference, but it's a start!! Shaving off 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there and pretty soon we could have something to take note of.........key word though, "could". But I like the idea!! :D

Well, it ain't much, but it's a start.
Hmmmmmmmmm, wonder if Mark Martins sponsor
could help????????????????????? :XXROFL: :XXROFL: :XXROFL: :XXROFL: :lilangel:

lets hope this happens in all forms of racing , not just nascar

let's hope this happens in all forms of tv, not just racing...i hate seeing the same clips over and over at the end of every commercial break...espicially with nbc and fear factor, the commercials make me not want to watch nbc at all, let alone actually tune in to watch their garbage.

the other major thing i would like to see is more variety in commercials in general, and a lower volume...don't show me the same commercial every break, switch it up and rotate 3 or 4 different commercials for the same company each hour.

I'm not in any way complaining, but I have a feeling that commercial time isn't as highly coveted for this race as any other on the schedule.

TNT isn't doing this just for this race, they are doing it for all the races they cover.

And they aren't dropping a single second of paid commercial time. All this time savings is coming by running shorter version of spots that promote TNT or another Turner network.

ooooooh. I guess I didn't quite get the gist of it.

Well, that is good news for Nascar fans.

I didn't notice the lower commercial count (maybe they forgot).
