Commissioner Waltrip

No way on the opening.

Start at Daytona and end at either Daytona or Homestead.

Chase schedule consists entirely of tracks not run at in regular season.

Race at least once at a dirt track (Springfield, Eldora, Virginia or The Rock Speedway).

More Wide Open TV coverage.

More road courses. Move Dover 1 to New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Would daytona be do-able in january? I mean i know they test, but would a race be feasable?

The reason the races are boring is mostly due to the COT. They need to incorporate the safety measures within a car which can pass other than on pit road. Some of the races are too long, esp. when they play follow the leader and try to beat someone out of the pits. Reducing the ticket prices for the races, the pits, etc., would get more people coming to the races and probably attending more races. As it is now, you can take a nice family vacation for what it costs to go to a race for the whole weekend, buy pit passes, etc., and pay for the gouging at the motels and even camp grounds, not to mention gas. When times are tight, it makes it even harder to justify spending that kind of money.

I would agree with narking races down to 350 or 400 miles, or 3 hours, whichever is less. Might throw some drama in the races for once.

But keep the daytona 500 and coke 600.

Road courses Andy???

Sorry, road courses dont belong in NASCAR. They are not fun to watch either.:D

I dont like watching stock cars go around a road course. Its like a parade route with turns.

Ovals are by far the best.

I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with DW as a commissioner and the competition committee sounds great. Those are all great ideas if for nothing else it shows NASCAR can make really radical changes. Brian France should hand DW the ball and see what happens. It will create a lot of interest with the fans and teams alike. Something IMO that's been a complete failure under his direction. Fan interest and saving money most definitely would appeal to team owners.

I agree with most things in that article except for some of the scheduling. I agree there's nothing that says the Daytona 500 has to be first, but NASCAR isn't going to change that. I think ending the season earlier is a great idea. But that would mean adding races before Daytona or cutting races from the schedule. NASCAR came up with the Chase to compete with the NFL. They have failed to do so. The NFL is king and NASCAR should admit that and go on from there.

You won't see dirt tracks in Nascar anytime soon or ever. Fan capacity just isn't there.
I doubt you'll see more road courses. Too hard to show on TV. Too hard to see in person.
Daytona will be 1st, period. This is their Golden Goose.
Daytona may move to last as well if they think there will be more money to be made.
All of this wishful thinking is just that.

Road courses boring?!! No way!!! Ok, Infineon... I'll give you that one. ;) As much as it pains me to share THIS video ..... (Jeff cough cough spins cough cough, but keeps going!) it's just one example why I say you are WRONG!!!! The only reason IRL is boring at this track is because there has been so few cars running, you wait forever for them to come past again. I can tell you it sure wasn't boring when F1 was running there and it's not boring with those big tank of cars... I mean NASCAR. :D

Haven't really worked on cutting out and fixing these up, just so you know - first timers taking video

they've tested at daytona in january right?

Is there no reason the Daytona 500 can't be on January 18th?
