We were talking about jeff getting closer to dale sr in wins on aother board. Anyway someone wanted to know the percentages, and I found this. I thought others might like to see it on here.

Dale Sr and some of the other guys were not handed prime equipment straight out of the box...Larry McReynolds was talking about this the other day...i agree with what he says, he was saying you can not compare some of these drivers to the older drivers due to the simple fact that a lot of older drivers had to work with bad equipment for awhile...sure Dale Sr had really good equipment with RCR, but before that he didnt.

i dont think you can compare Petty and Gordon at all...Petty raced in a completely different era....rules were different.

Gordon is probably the greatest driver of his time......hell he could be the greatest of all time...but we'll never know that...he's never driven bad equipment.

I dont personally think you can compare the nextel cup championship to the winston cup championship at all anymore either.....nextel is easier to win...all you have to do is be in the top 10 and then be the best driver of a 10 race period, as compared to being the best driver all year long......Nascar has deminshed the championship...come on now, Busch would have finished 300 points out last year and Gordon would have won his 5th championship.

I'm not a gordon fan...and i hate to see him win...but you have to respect him for being such a great driver.....i WOULD NOT compare Jimmie Johnson to Jeff Gordon what so ever.

i think if we are going to compare legends.....David Pearson should have been added in at some point

David Pearson
Wins 105
Races 574
Percentage 18.3%

Sr had the best car, or just as good of a car compared to the other drivers out there at thime he won (most of the time). Sure drivers pull something out of there hat and beat a better car from time to time. But no matter how good you can drive if your car isnt competitive you wont win. This is why (regretably) kenny schrader probally wont win another race, this is also why you probally wont ever see morgan sheperd get a top 10.

SR didnt drive for RCR for the first part of his career....he won a championship for a team that was just a few years old..im not sure on this but i think the team was founded in 1979, the same year Sr won Rookie of the year.....(Curb Motorsports)...he drove for Mike Curb before he drove for RCR..then moved to Bud Moore racing for a bit and finally was put in good cars when he went back to RCR.

I like Ricky Rudd alot... i used to work for him...but he drove the3 car for RCR when Sr left to drive for Bud Moore and didnt do a whole lot for them.

Sr earned the 3 car...unlike a lot of the younger drivers out there now that have been placed in their "3" cars...ex. Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson

and dont start on Jr either....DEI didnt do crap in the cup series until he moved up....DEI still has a long ways to go.

i agree with you on Ken schrader.....even the last few years he drove for Hendrick, the 25 car at the time was on a lower pedestal than the 5 and 24 were at the time....he hasnt had good equipment in 15 years...and people keep hiring him..that should tell you something about him.

Its not like hendricks was raking in the cups, and wins before jeff came either.

hendrick was doing pretty good before gordon got there....the 17, 5, and 25 ran pretty good......thats all for now...as im off to see another legend in concert tonight....Alan Jackson ;)

smack dude...you'll like this.....im not ****tin you...excuse me cause im a lil drunk after seeing Alan Jackson tonight....but we were sitting right behind the gold circle at verizon wireless amp tonight to see alan jackson...and freakin Rick Hendrick was sittin right in front of me...i was literally close enough to touch him
