bowtie, while I can certainly understand your frustration, please let me try to explain my feelings on this situation. It is not difficult to hire someone to answer the telephones, but it is difficult for some small companies to have the funds to pay someone to perform the job. I don't mind someone using an automated system to answer their telephones, it's when they have a completely complicated system that you can never ever reach a human being!

exactly what I'm talking about. [/b][/quote]
Well, in that case, if they can have that complicated a system that you can never reach a human being.............................they can afford to hire someone to answer the dang phone!
When I was uneployed recently (thank goodness that's over) I had to call a hot-line everyother week to report so I could receive an unemployment check.
Questions were yes, no. Easy right?
"Did you turn down any job offers in the week ending May 23? Press or Speak 1 for yes, 9 for no.
So if you want to say 'no' you have to say "nine"....wtf? If it's friggin voice recognition let us say YES and NO!
(I felt like an old Beatles album....number nine...number nine...number nine....)
That drove me absolutely nuts. The whole system was terrible. I honestly feel sorry for anyone who get confused easy. They'd never get their unemployment checks. Those calls were honestly the worst part of being unemployed.
I don't mind the computer systems as long as they are short. "Hello, enter your parties extension."
I found out one thing, If you are trying to talk to somebody it's like a maze but if you are trying to make a payment all you have to do is press two buttons.
Most of the time. If you let the stupid system run through the speech twice and dont push no buttons. Then a human will answer the phone. NOTE. I did say most of the time.
