Just saw NA$CAR race hub and them talking to a NA$CAR engineer about all the computer stuff they have put in this seasons Sprint cup cars. I'm wondering if all this computer stuff will take away from the racing. Do anyone on here think the same as I do? I think all the computer stuff will make the racing more boring than ever.

as long as they dont put AWD or traction control on....I do WANT to see wipers and rain tires at all tracks......

but I may be dreaming...but I can hope

It is what it is, I wasnt givin a vote on the matter so I will just keep watching. The racing can only get so boring before they do something to fix it, lets hope for an exciting year

I want computerized wipers to be standard equipment

Only the open wheel chaps have the stones to race in the rain on a regular basis

LOL.

200mph on a rainy daytona and Talladega.

Hey I bet they could do it. that would be cool...drafting in the rain.

On road courses they should race in the rain. V8 SuperCars do......and many other classes

And they are this year...Id like to see it expanded, but I think we need a new car for that.

I just dont see the appeal of racing in the rain. Sure it looks cool but it kills the competitive nature because then you dont race other cars, you race yourself and the rain.

That would suck.

Nobody suggested wet racing on ovals (at least I didnt) and even if they did slowing down a bit might be appropriate

BTW .................. I smoke Marlboros and nothing else

Unless it has been changed, the computers limit RPMs control the air fuel mixtures and gather engine data that is read after the race. I think it is called a data logger.

I will, that is why drivers have an accelerator pedal. All an oval is is four left hand corners, most of them are even banked...but I forgot..the earth is flat.

I will drive one on any track under any weather conditions imaginable .................. all they gotta do is set it up and give me a call ......................................... aint sceered

Some exciting things are in the works this year.
For example Austin Dillions microchip has been programmed to be crazier this year.

No it won't . The computerized engines in modern cars do the same exact thing non-computerized carburetor systems did; just more efficiently. Same idea/process, different design.

All I want is good, hard racing. Is that too much to ask?

Don't even need wipers. Just spray some Rain-x on the windshields

Didn't they try that once in Montreal? What a crappy race that was. Nascar calling the shots on the tires.

I think everything will be fine as long as the don't allow for traction control. The current NASCAR product is popular among fans due to the lack of traction control. Watching cars race each other at 100mph + driving on the edge with limited traction is what makes NASCAR so exciting. You take that away and the racing product is severely damaged.

I am not sure what if any impact relying on computers will have but I can't see it making things any worse. If I was Nascar I would like to find out why millions of people have stopped watching or attending the races. I would also like to know why it is mainly old farts that are fans and what needs to be done to bring in some newbie fans.

The constant mucking around with rules, points, cars. It never ends. It has to aggravate owners who invest millions to comply with rules to find out the rule changed for the next year and they have to break out more millions.
The person who wins a race gets the most points no matter what scale you use. The person who accumulates the most points over the course of 36 races is the champion. Not someone who hasn't won a race all season long but lucks out in the last 10.
brain's insistence on fixing a system that wasn't broke is what's killing the sport.

NASCAR ratings were consistently getting killed in the last 10 or so races of the year for a couple of reasons. The NFL starts their season one week before the chase begins and ratings typically dip during Sunday NASCAR races. Also, in the old point system ratings would take an enormous hit when someone had a huge point lead. An example is the 2003 season with champion Matt Kenneth. Matt won just one race during the season and the points for 33 consecutive weeks. He beat Johnson by an astounding 90 points. In fact this was the last year of the old points system. 2004 was the first year of the chase and the ratings during the last 10 races have improved dramatically.
