Concord Speedway is for sale

There are already multiple dirt tracks nearby.

For some reason, dirt racing hasn't really taken off in the Carolinas.

When I go to a big pavement race In the south (late models, K&N, NASCAR mod etc...) , the crowd sucks. When I go to a big dirt show in the south (Lucas oil or world of outlaws late models) , the place is packed.
No idea about the crowds at local races... I assume the crowd sucks for the local races as well...
I personally prefer a big time pavement short track race than a big dirt race, but the fan counts at dirt races is always much better...

Apples and oranges.

There is an overabundance of asphalt tracks and only a few dirt tracks. And the Lucas Oil and World of Outlaws always draw big crowds because that's the pinnacle of dirt racing. Comparing them to Late Models or K&N is like comparing the crowd at a Yankees game to the crowd at a Carolina Mudcats game. If the Cup Series ran at Southern National, the place would be packed.

All that said, there are also a handful of tracks that draw big crowds every week in asphalt. Bowman Gray Stadium draws more fans than any dirt track race. Several other tracks that regularly draw good crowds as well.

I don't think turning Concord Speedway into a dirt track would do any good though. It's close to the Charlotte Motor Speedway Dirt Track, Cherokee Speedway, Gastonia and Fayetteville.

Lucas and woo on are the pinnacle of dirt racing, though I think stuff like ARCA , K&N is fairly comparable from the competition side, big professional teams, they have nice long races. Ticket prices for all of those series are about the same. Around $25-30 . K&N, ARCA , WoO lm, Lucas Oil all manage to pack the stands in other regions. You should see the crowds ARCA gets at Salem, Toledo, etc... I've seen K&N have nice big crowds at places like Columbus, Ohio and others. The big dirt lm races manage to pack the place as well. Not sure why it's so different in the south. Seems like almost everyone in the south is a casual race fan, watches NASCAR on tv. In the Midwest race fans are pretty rare, but most race fans are pretty hardcore serious fans..
I lived in Greenville, I have tons of friends there. All of them watch cup on tv, pretty much none of them have ever been to Greenville Pickens speedway. The track even advertises the races on local tv, nobody goes . No idea how that track makes any money

You ever met Anthony Anders? Dude has more money than God. Besides, asphalt tracks make their money on the back gate these days. Practice, practice, practice.

You are right about that. Frickin Attica and Fremont Speedway are packed every weekend and with Larson, Abreu and Stewart racing at Attica next week it's going to be real packed

Never heard of the guy, I only ever went there for K&N races. Idk how they make back gate money , usually when I look at some southern asphalt tracks car counts, they have like 10 late models... I guess they have like 6 different classes of street stocks or something to bring in the back gate money. The top class isn't bringing in much..
I can see why the fans don't show up.. 10 late models isn't too great.

I've only been to Attica and Fremont for fairly big races. Went to two All stars races this year at Attica, awesome crowds and like 45 or so 410 sprints

Oh I love that track. Could easily attend every Friday if it were a little closer to Perrysburg
