Congratulations King Richard on your first win as a car owner since 1999! And congrats to Kasey Kahne!

Did King Richard actually drink the wine? :beerbang:

Congrats to Kasey.

Damn good job. I never thought he would win a road race especially with Stewart on his bumper.

10 years since Petty win, WOW. Even though it took inheriting a Star driver and Above par team.

Good job ole King Richard, Kasey Kahne.

Finally Kasey gets a win , what a good job on those re-starts !:beerbang:

Congrats to The King and Kasey!

Man, with all the restarts they did at the end of the race I thought for sure Tony was going to get the jump on Kasey. For his second best finish there being 22nd, Kasey really showed his talent to hold off Smoke.

On a side note, hats off to Marcos Ambrose. What a weekend this guy had! Qualified 3rd, then crashed and blew the engine in final practice, started 43rd, and came all the way back to finish 3rd.

Was that the King I saw in Victory Lane with that "beer" car?
For years his cars were not allowed to participate in the Bud Shoot out because he wouldn't allow the Bud Stickers on his cars. This spring when asked about the Bud car his comments were something like those are Gillet's car, mine are the 43 and 44. I guess that was only until the "Bud" car won, then he'd gladly stand in VL and get beer sprayed all over him and smile at the camera, and take the check. :beerbang:

I never knew Richard Petty was anti-beer. Is he a recovering alcoholic or something? I guess not because he was drinking the wine in victory lane.

There's also lots of footage from the 60s and 70s of him drinking. I remember seeing videos where during driver introductions he walked out on stage with beer in hand.

No Petty Enterprises car ever had a beer sponsor and he refuse to run the Bud sticker so they could not be in the Shoot out, something about a promise he made to his mother.

I'd be a lot more excited for him, if it wasn't Richard Petty Motorsports by name only.

I wondered when somebody was gonna say something, gillette bought out petty enterprises and that's why you see bud on the 43 and 44 if that was king richards team there would be no bud.

The King of NASCAR is drinking The King of Beers. LOL:D

What a wierd twisted world NASCAR is these days, the
"King of Stock car racing" and the "King of Beers" in victory lane together. I was thinking about that today, whether anybody remebered the fact that the King never ran beer advirtising of any kind on his cars. The late great Bobby Hamilton won a pole at Michigan one year, and didn't get to participate in the Busch Clash the next year.

TRIVIA QUESTION?

Who was the first driver to drive for Petty Enterprise in the STP car after the King retired, and what number did they use?

Yep I agree, I don't think Richard has much of a financial stake in the teams, not sure what the percentage breakdown is. Still cool though to see the 9 go to victory lane.

That came from his mother who was a strict temperance type. She never allowed any type of liquor in the house. She strictly forbid both Lee and Richard to ever drive a car with any alcoholic beverage sponsorship of any kind, even a contingency sponsorship. That's why a Petty car has never qualified to be in the Bud Shootout. In order to qualify for that you must win a pole AND have the bud contingency sticker on your car.

The reason it's got a Bud sponsorship now? Richard no longer owns petty Enterprises Racing Division. George Gillett owns it and Petty is merely his spokesman and racing figurehead. I don't know how much say Richard has about the cars which carry his name but I am sure that it isn't much, if any.
