Just what ELSE would you expect a well funded CUP team to do in that race?
The reason they race in the CUP series is because they are BETTER! If he DID NOT WIN I would be surprise.
The idea of allowing the cup guys to race in the Busch series is to sell tickets. It might have been an Ok idea years ago before the giant following the little cars have now.. But it just looks like the big boys picking on the little boys now.
Sure he is the winningest driver over there! Why is that? Because he does not belong there! Of course he is better than them little series drivers.
If he is so damn good why does he NOT have 70 cup wins? The cup races is where he should be proving himself.. Not going back to play with the little boys. If he did not win he should be ashamed of himself and his team!
Betsy

Always good to read such good positive thoughts.

Tony are you gonna cheer for the Dallas Cowboys to beat Baylor university? What is so negative about telling the TRUTH?
Do you cheer for high school teams to beat middle school teams? I could understand folks that are NOT in a site like this one thinking he and his team have done something wonderful. WE HERE are supposed to know better!
ALL of the cup teams are supposed to finish in order at the top!
The BEST are always expected to be just that, the best.
Betsy :(

Ps. Negative to me is someone that has nothing to say... except snide remarks.

If you think that most of the Busch teams are not well funded by cup owners , you are sadly mistaken, betsy. Also, I wasn't aware that 70 wins was the measuring stick of success. According to you, the likes of Yarborough, Allison, Wallace , Pearson, Elliott, and Jarrett are unproven drivers. Did you miss your Risperidone today ?

No as a matter of fact I do not miss
it one bit. I can think better without it..
The drivers you refer too are all proven winners and great drivers that did not have to prove their worth by going DOWN in competition to win against junior drivers and teams. They won their races against drivers and teams that were the best that NASCAR could offer in their time.
Today Mark will drive against his true competition. We all know, including you CT, Mark should win against the Bush drivers.
I have followed Marks racing for his entire time in NASCAR, I have a great deal of respect for him. I doubt he could win many of those Bush races with the team members and amount of funding they have. No disrespect meant, just the real facts as I see them, without my Risperidone.
Sure he won yesterday, the bigger deal would have been if he LOST!
Betsy ;)

I should probably stay out of this conversation, but I just can't. This is something that has been talked about ever since the Busch cars went from 6 cylinders to the current 8. I doubt very seriously that any changes will be made about Busch Whackers, at least in my life time. Yes, the Cuppers were used in the old days to attract a larger audience, but they aren't needed in these days. But there are many Cuppers who race in Busch and are beaten by the little boys. I would love to see them give more spots to regular Busch drivers so they won't get shut out of a race, but it's all about you know what.

I understand that Cup drivers will now be competing with kids in Karts. Kart Chasers! :growl:

But poor Mickey can't fit in one. :p

holy **** betsy. im guessing your driver in busch lost. aint cup drivers in busch kinda like NFL players goin to Europe to play during the offseason. The play in europe for practice and playing time. Cup drivers race busch for information and practice, it aint that big of a deal. If 2 cup drivers finish 1,2 and a busch driver gets 3rd he will still gain as many points on the busch competition as he would if he won.

Maybe so EMON but they do not get the WIN or the WIN money! And what about the Bush drivers that got kicked out the back door for not Qualifying?
So they miss a race completely because of a few cup drivers that quit the bush league years ago.
Also NO! I do not have a bush driver. If I did pick one I guess it would be Mark MArtin :D
Betsy ;)

One thing that I think about that qualifying deal is that if you can't qualify for the race, you shouldn't be in the race.

Now, I do enjoy having some cuppers in the busch races or the truck races for that matter. I think its a problem when a third to half of the field is made up of them. I say limit the number of buschwackers allowed in the race and all will be well. I think the regular busch or truck drivers actually enjoy them coming because its more experience racing with the pros. Most of these rookies learn best when they follow those that know how to get around these tracks.

Lessee, where are the Busch regulars gonna get any experience in driving at the Cup level if they never race Cup drivers? How do they learn driving techniques when there are only Busch regulars to follow? I guess Cup drivers should not be allowed to own Busch cars then? What will happen to the truck series when all the retiring Cup drivers sink so low as to drive there?

Point is this---the rules are being followed. Has been happening for a looooong time. Ain't gonna stop now. ;)

I think if a Cup driver wants to sign up and commit to run a full Busch schedule, that's fine. But just pick and choose some high profile races, no.

The argument that Cup drivers sell Busch tickets is probably a good one. But what the series needs is sell more tickets when they're not running at a Cup weekend track.

Good idea Bumpster... Cup drivers can only drive Bush when not at the same track.. As much against whacking as I am I could go for that rule.. It might even make nascar some money. Add to that: The field will be enlarged by the number of cup drivers so no regular driver will be kicked..
Betsy

since when is the busch series a minor league. Each of those teams wants to put the best driver they can afford behind the wheel of the car.

sure some cup teams will have a busch team and use it as their personally minors, in order to prepare their younger drivers for the cup series. but that isnt how it has to be done.

look at the truck series. you have very young talent and old veterans who still want to race. it works.
