Sam won the nerve wracking points battle over Helio today. Yet again an OUTSTANDING side by side wheel to wheel race!! Of course I'm disappointed cause I wanted Helio to win, but I'm more than satisfied because the races this season have been great. Especially these last few. Now the season is over. :(

Thanks to all the teams in the IRL for giving us fans a GREAT season of racing.

What a race, what a bunch of drivers, what a season etc etc. One of the best seasons I've seen.

And being so gracious in defeat looks good on your PG. :)
 
This has been the best season in years, and todays race was fantastic!
I love Helio too, so maybe next year. Spiderman will have his year!!!
 
A great race!!!! Congrats Hornish. I liked that edge of the seat ending.
 
I was at the race and couldn't have asked for anything better than seeing my favorite driver win a championship. I thought earlier this year when Castroneves had the points lead, and Sam was had a DNF, it was over. But he pulled it out with two great back to back wins.

IRL puts on such a great show! I can't believe the amount of times I got see the drivers up close without a pit pass. They walked down though the grandstands during driver introductions, throwing shirts to fans. Cheever gave his Red Bull water bottle to a kid through the fence as he was getting in to his car (He seemed really nice the times we got to meet him). We had a free autograph session Saturday after practice in the garage and were able to stand 5 feet from the drivers and watch them sign autographs. Oh and Helio nearly ran over my friend on his scooter (But he did ring the bell so I guess he should have gotten out of the way!). All in all this was the best race I have been to yet with the IRL at Texas.

Awww thanks Paul. I'd be a fool to sit here and complain after having watched one of the best races in one of the best seasons. Yeah, I'm disappointed a lil, but I'm still very happy with the way the whole year played out. I'm just sad to have it end already.
 
I must say, as someone who loves dirt track racing because it is thrilling lap after lap, that the IRL races this year have been impressive. I didn't start watching IRL until this year and really only started after a friend of mine got me interested. I thank her for that. LoL I am looking forward to the next season and heading to see a few more IRL races (no, this doesn't mean I'll stop gettin dirty at my dirt tracks) LoL I'm looking forward to seeing more cars next year too, which will just make it THAT much more competitive than it already is. Championships were meant to be decided on the last lap of the last race in my eyes, and it just shows you how much more exciting it is than having it decided with 2 or 3 races left (or in F1, half-way through the season).

I'd like to say congrats to Hornish as well...I think the real credit goes to Panther Racing though. Amazing reliability and pace all season long.

Does anyone think the odds on Sam winning next years Indy 500 will be less than 20-1 though? ;)
