I don't know if I'm missing something or not but why do the two drivers on the front row run the duels?

It a paying race isn't it? Plus they get TV time as the pole sitter .They likely won't take any big risks to their cars .

You could say the same thing about the rest of the top-35. Why bother? Pit selection @ Daytona is almost meaningless.
