Congratulations Jeff.. moving up

Ok I'll bite...Jeff will go down in history for his achievements and as a Hendrick fan I am personally happy.
 
well as quiet as it is kept around here anyway, JJ lost what, 3 points on his huge lead, Jeff drives into the top twelve, and even with Kasey getting dumped, he moved up a spot to 6th. All in all not bad. I think Jimmy is points racing, despite his crappy pit stop at the last, he wasn't taking any chances. I think they are in stay in first place mode.

I'm missing something . What is the advantage of finishing 4th instead of 1st ? Saving your equipment ?

Yeah I am sure the 48 crew is in win mode, being 120 points in the lead and only two wins with Matt 2nd in points and 6 wins, could be the difference in the Chase.
If he does end up 100 points in the lead at chase time, we will probably see a whole new level of whine from this crew. And NASCAR will change the chase point format again to include a guaranteed top point start for leader of points at chase time.

But what is it with this 48 crew, I'm sure they could make winning the race backwards on fire and blowing sparkles out the window seem boring.

Exactly , how much you win the regular season by is meaningless.

Being that far ahead at this point isn't meaningless IMO Ted, you have a huge cushion, almost a full win, in a max points race, to not only stay in the top 12 but in the top ten where your wins will count when they reset the points.

Jimmie is a shoe-in for the Chase. The only thing he needs to race for now are wins to earn those bonus points. Kenseth is effectively the championship leader at the moment.
 
the chase is where wins really count. Tony proved that year before last. If it was chase time Kenseth would have three more points than JJ and be the chase leader. he would have 2009 points to Jimmys 2006. Jimmy is the sprint cup championship leader at the moment, Kenseth is in third place behind his x teamate Carl Edwards in second. The extra win is only worth three points when they reset the points.

Yes, but ask Edwards if that 2nd-place finish instead of a win at Darlington didn't mean anything. Kenseth is first in what matters, and that's wins. Neither is in danger of falling out of the top ten nor will they be.
 
he is in third place..hell he is just as close 15 points, to running in 6th as he is to being in 2nd place where Carl is. man this is like the Joey deal from a couple weeks ago, yeah he is doing good this year, yeah he is looking good, but for ALL of them there is a long road ahead. And all of them are way behind Jimmy
